Our client, a leading civil construction firm with over three decades of experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across British Columbia, is seeking a Civil Estimator to join their team in either Nanaimo or Victoria, BC. This is a hybrid position offering long-term stability, career growth, and the chance to contribute to high-profile projects in the region. Key Responsibilities: Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil infrastructure projects, including road construction, underground utilities, bridges, and run-of-river hydroelectric work Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to develop quantity take-offs and pricing strategies Utilize estimating software (Explorer and/or HeavyBid) to produce detailed bids and proposals Identify and pursue bid opportunities in both public and private sectors Collaborate with the General Manager and other Estimators to review tenders and refine estimates Maintain databases of suppliers, subcontractors, unit costs, and productivity benchmarks Participate in pre-construction planning, bid reviews, and post-award project kick-offs Provide estimating support to project teams during execution, as needed Ideal Candidate Requirements: 3+ years of experience in civil estimating, preferably in roadworks, bridges, excavation, underground utilities, or hydro projects Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology; Gold Seal certification is an asset Proficiency with Explorer and/or HeavyBid estimating software; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus Strong grasp of unit costs, labor productivity, and local market pricing Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills Why this Firm?
