Our client, The Lodge at Little Ducka premier, northern 5-star fly-in seasonal fishing and hunting destination in Northern Manitoba, with outpost operations in Manitoba and above the 60th parallel in Nunavutis seeking a dedicated and experienced General Manager to join their team on a permanent year-round basis. This role is part of a planned succession strategy, with the successful candidate working closely alongside the current General Manager to ensure a smooth and effective leadership transition over time.This is a rare and exciting opportunity for someone looking to step into the top leadership role while gaining comprehensive, hands-on experience across all facets of lodge operations. Our client is also open to interest from couples who might find this unique lifestyle and role appealing, regardless of their current location.In this highly visible and immersive position, the General Manager will support and eventually assume full responsibility for overseeing guest services, logistics, staff management, budgeting, and marketing. The ideal candidate brings direct or personal experience in the hunting and fishing lodge industry, thrives in remote settings, and excels at both operational management and creating unforgettable guest experiences.As the General Manager, you will:Manage day-to-day lodge operations, both during the operating season and during the off-season, ensuring smooth functioning across all departments including guest services, logistics, and maintenance.Lead marketing efforts including trip bookings, correspondence and attendance at trade shows during the off-season. Utilize social media and other marketing channels effectively.Build and maintain relationships with guests and vendors, particularly in remote Arctic communities. Ensure exceptional guest experiences and efficient vendor management.Oversee logistical operations such as ordering for each camp, deliveries and flight scheduling for both the summer and fall seasons. Basic mechanical skills (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical) are advantageous.Develop and manage operational budgets with accounting staff, handle basic accounting tasks (e.g., invoicing, payables/receivables) and ensure fiscal and environmental responsibility.Supervise and coordinate staff, including guides, chefs, and support personnel. Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.Plan and oversee pre-season preparation activities including overall facility maintenance, food/menu planning and pricing, and the setup of boats, and all related equipment to ensure readiness for guests.Track bookings and guest deposits/payments and communication throughout the off-season and following up with prospects to maximize occupancy.You and Your Experience:Personal or direct experience in the fishing and hunting lodge industry with a strong passion for outdoor activities.Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities in a remote setting.Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with a focus on guest satisfaction.Problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in MS Excel and basic accounting principles.Flexibility, adaptability and a resourceful nature essential for lodge operations.Previous experience in marketing, guest relations and logistics management preferred.Ability to reside and work in a remote location for extended periods (4-6 weeks).Mechanical skills (carpentry, plumbing, electrical) considered a strong asset.Experience with food management and menu planning.Previous experience in high-end hospitality or outdoor adventure tourism.Benefits of the organization:Work in a One-of-a-Kind SettingMake a Direct ImpactDiverse, Hands-On RoleBuild Meaningful Relationships Unique Lifestyle and CommunityAbout The Lodge at Little Duck:The Lodge at Little Duck is a premier wilderness destination located in the remote subarctic region of Northern Manitoba675 miles north of Winnipeg and over 250 miles from the nearest road.
