As a recognition of our commitment to quality and patient safety, we have received the highest distinction of Exemplary Standing from Accreditation Canada.Job SummaryPerform under the direction and supervision of the Pathologists; all duties related to the preparation, dissection and gross description of surgical specimens of all complexity, while adhering to all established protocols and procedures.QualificationsCurrent CCCPA CertificationBachelors Degree in Science or Medical Laboratory Technologist with advanced level courses in anatomy and physiologyGraduate of Pathologist Assistant training program preferredPrior experience as a Pathologist AssistantCoPath and Dragon voice dictation experience an assetUnderstanding of fixation and tissue structure preservationUnderstanding of specimen sampling and impact on subsequent specimen processingDemonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standardsAbility to perform tasks and assignments under pressure and time constrictions while remaining calm and composedStrong knowledge of anatomy and physiology with emphasis on the pathological presentation of diseaseStrong observational skills and exceptional attention to detailStrong knowledge of medical terminologyAbility to work effectively as a member of a team and independentlyAbility to contribute and work within an interdisciplinary teamCommitment to professional accountability and high standard of performanceComputer literacy in windows based applicationsWorking knowledge of laboratory safety requirements with a commitment to a healthy and safe workplaceAbility to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervisionDemonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbalDemonstrated problem assessment skillsDemonstrated commitment to customer service and teamworkDemonstrated individual leadership skillsCommitment to providing an exceptional experience for patients and families as well as other members of the healthcare team within a challenging and exciting health care environmentDemonstrated commitment to, and understanding of the principles of diversity, equity and inclusionModels behaviour that is aligned with the values of Southlake Regional Health CentreAlways with compassionPower of manyServe with purposeEvery voice mattersRegular and reliable attendance is an expected requirement of this position.At Southlake, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible environment.
