Y programs are offered at more than 1,700 locations across Canada and help more than 2.25 million people annually become healthier in spirit, mind, and body.This position requires a commitment to the Y mission and core values of responsibility, honesty, caring, respect, and inclusion.What do we offer?At the Y, you will be part of a vibrant and diverse network of people whose shared vision is to change lives and make our communities home to the healthiest children, teens, adults, and families.Wage: $17.20/hourOur competitive wage and benefit package include:Free YMCA gym membership;Discounted Y program fees;Access to our YMCA Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP);Free daily camp bus transportation to and from camp facility is available upon request.What do you offer?The Otonabee Inclusion Camp Counsellor provides 1-on-1 support to children and youth with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, ensuring a positive experience through fun and rewarding recreation and sport programs.Responsibilities:Providing 1-on-1 and 2-on-1 support to children with special needs.Assisting in developing program inclusion strategies.Managing behavioural incidents and implementing redirection strategies.Completing all necessary paperwork accurately and timely.Acting as a resource for inclusive programming.Qualifications:High School Diploma and/or Post-Secondary Education.Educational background and work experience with children with disabilities.Ability to work in English; bilingualism is an asset.General experience in a camp setting is an asset.Well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.Ability to maintain calm in stressful situations.First priority to campers needs.Additional Requirements:Applicants must be 16 years old by June 23, 2025.Current Standard First Aid and CPR 'C' certification required.Valid permit to work in Canada.A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required.Mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth must be completed semi-annually.Core Competencies:Commitment to Y Vision and Values: Demonstrates and promotes an understanding of the Y's mission and values.Confidentiality and Integrity: Maintains high ethical standards.Communication: Communicates clearly and supports information sharing.Problem Solving: Identifies issues and implements solutions.Quality Focus: Sets and reviews success criteria regularly.Teamwork: Creates an atmosphere of trust among team members.Concern for Health and Safety: Educates others on risk and harm reduction.Creativity and Innovation: Plans and implements quality programming.About diversity and inclusiveness at the Y:Inclusiveness is part of our core values.
