This role is essential in driving the schools vision for academic excellence and educational innovation, with a particular focus on implementing Standards-Based Grading. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty, administration, and external partners to enhance teaching practices, improve student outcomes, and align programs with CAIS best practices and Ministry of Education guidelines.This is a Permanent Full-Time position, beginning in August of the 2025-2026 school year.Core Responsibilities:ACADEMIC PROGRAM LEADERSHIP:Lead the continued development and implementation of forward-thinking teaching practices across Grades 8-12. We define forward-thinking teaching practices as including but not limited to:Concept-Based, Competency-Driven ApproachStandards Aligned-Learning using an Understanding-By-Design FrameworkStudent-CentredProject-Based LearningInnovative Assessment PracticesEstablish and oversee a comprehensive professional development program for faculty, fostering innovation, collaboration and a growth mindset.Support the alignment and effectiveness of curriculum planning, assessment, grading, and reporting practices.Evaluate and monitor the academic programs efficacy, using data-driven insights to inform continuous improvement.Ensure alignment with CAIS and Ministry of Education standards, fostering excellence in programming and compliance.Promote technology integration to enhance teaching and learning.SUPPORT AND MONITOR STUDENT GROWTH:Support wellness and social-emotional programs that address the holistic needs of students.Cultivate a character-based, Jewish learning environment that fosters student leadership and community engagement.Utilize data to identify opportunities for academic interventions and enrichment programs.Coach, guide and mentor faculty in alignment with the schools Professional Growth Model.Lead teacher evaluation processes, providing actionable feedback and mentorship.Encourage the sharing of best practices and reflective teaching among faculty members.Act as a resource for staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to shape and implement the schools strategic plan.Represent King David High School within CAIS, ISABC, and other networks, building relationships to promote innovation and excellence.Support the DHOS in managing the schools accreditation process, ensuring adherence to CAIS and ISABC standards and Ministry of Education regulations, while preparing for and overseeing inspections and evaluations.Engage with parents, students, and the broader community through communication, events, and workshops.Support the schools recruitment efforts by showcasing the strength and innovation of its academic programs.Additional ResponsibilitiesMaintain a visible presence on campus and build meaningful relationships with students, parents, and faculty.Stay current on educational trends through professional learning and active participation in relevant conferences.Contribute to the schools mission by actively supporting its operations, communication, and development initiatives.Required QualificationsCanadian residency and legal entitlement to work in Canada.Masters Degree in Education (or in progress).BC Teaching Certification.Minimum of 10 years of teaching experience and 5 years of educational leadership experience in a high school setting.Preferred Qualifications and SkillsDemonstrated experience in leading professional development and mentoring facultyStrong knowledge of BC curriculum, assessment, and standards-based grading.Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning community.Familiarity with independent school operations and accreditation processes.Strategic thinker with strong organizational and communication skills.Personal qualities of integrity, warmth, and a sense of humour.Why Join King David High School?Competitive salary and benefits package, including personal days and wellness initiatives.Opportunities for professional growth and leadership development.A vibrant, welcoming community dedicated to academic excellence and Jewish values.A chance to make a meaningful impact on students lives and the future of education.If this role aligns with your vision for educational leadership, we would love to hear from you!
