The role involves setting strategic direction, developing systems aligned with city plans, managing stakeholder relations, ensuring compliance, overseeing budgets, and leading staff. The Director will also support regional transit initiatives, including the Light Rail Transit project, and promote transit as a key component of the citys climate and economic strategies.Key ResponsibilitiesLead accountability for transit services, ensuring they meet city growth and strategic needs.Collaborate with regional and provincial agencies, including Metrolinx.Develop programs and policies to advance transit initiatives.Prepare budgets and seek funding opportunities.Manage labor relations and collective bargaining with ATU Local 107.Represent the city at meetings and in public communications.Ensure safety, compliance, and high service standards.Lead workforce planning, staff development, and cross-department collaboration.QualificationsBachelors degree in Business, Public Administration, Transportation Planning/Engineering; postgraduate preferred.At least 10 years of senior transit leadership experience, preferably in a municipal setting.Proven financial management skills and experience with large budgets and projects.Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of relevant legislation and safety standards.Valid Ontario G drivers license.Applicants should be committed to inclusive and equitable employment practices.
