Were looking for an Estimator to join a dynamic mechanical company in the construction industry.Our client has an exceptional pipeline of major projects over the coming years. They are excited to bring a skilled professional on board who will play a vital role in estimating, supporting project management, and ensuring the success of various mechanical projects. The Estimator will work in tandem with Project Managers to deliver accurate cost estimates, track project progress, and provide key technical support.Estimator responsibilities:Contribute to the preparation of tender documents, pre-construction cost projections, and project timelines for review by the Project ManagerDevelop detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, subcontractors, and equipment based on project bids, drawings, specifications, and supplier quotesConduct thorough quantity surveys, apply unit pricing, and determine costs for general project conditions, overhead, and proposal termsCollaborate closely with Project Managers to strategize on bid submissions and project approachesGuide and mentor junior team members in the preparation and revision of cost estimatesAnalyze project drawings and blueprints to assess material needs and project scopeAccurately calculate quantities of materials and supplies required for project specificationsEnsure the accuracy of take-offs by reviewing for technical and mathematical precisionSource and collect quotes from suppliers for required materials and equipmentParticipate in pre-bid meetings to clarify project details and ensure alignmentFinalize estimates by factoring in overhead costs and profit marginsPresent comprehensive bid packages to clients, adhering to project specifications and requirementsIntegrate addendums into tenders and revise estimates as necessaryMonitor actual costs during project execution and compare with estimates, suggesting potential improvements in cost managementHandle other responsibilities as necessaryThe successful candidate has:A minimum of five years experience in a similar role, with a proven ability to deliver accurate and timely estimates.A post-secondary degree or diploma, or Journeyperson Certification in the Mechanical fieldIn-depth knowledge of the local construction industry and associated documentationStrong understanding of mechanical construction systems and processesExcellent problem-solving, mathematical, and analytical capabilitiesA high attention to detail with a focus on precision and accuracyProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project)Familiarity with construction estimating software such as Accubid, Quickpen, or Procore is a plusCompensation and benefits:Competitive salary, commensurate with experienceComprehensive benefits planRRSP matchingContinuous professional development and training resourcesCollaborative work environmentOnly candidates already eligible to work in Canada will be reviewed.
