PurposeProvides clerical support to a Program or work group, assists administration and staff, and serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors. Daily tasks include data entry, billing, reporting, reception, customer service, document distribution, ordering supplies, and monitoring inventory. Some special assignments may also occur. The ED Clerk schedules and coordinates tests considering patient convenience and the schedules of ancillary departments.DutiesKey in, edit, and proofread correspondence, reports, statements, invoices, forms, and other documents using word processing software.Handle telephone and counter inquiries, forwarding them appropriately and providing general information to clients and the public.Photocopy, collate, and distribute documents, and manage mailing and filing processes.Maintain and update manual or computerized filing, inventory, mailing, and database systems.Sort and route incoming mail manually or electronically.Send and receive messages via facsimile or electronic mail.Perform routine bookkeeping tasks such as preparing invoices and bank deposits.Process and verify applications, receipts, expenditures, and forms.Greet and direct employees, patients, and visitors.Transcribe orders as required.Assist with staffing and scheduling daily, communicating concerns to management.Issue hospital labels and prepare documentation for departments.Provide statistical data as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsDiploma in Office Administration or related experience in a healthcare environment.ExperienceProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Vision.Experience in a fast-paced, stressful environment.AbilitiesAbility to multitask and prioritize effectively.Knowledge of Medical Terminology.Ability to work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.Effective time management skills.Professional and reassuring communication skills.Proficiency in clerical tasks, including keyboarding and documentation.Familiarity with hospital software applications such as Meditech, ADT, ADM, PHA, and Xerox.Accurate data entry and order transcription skills.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills in a high-pressure environment.Alignment with Hospital Mission, ICCARE Values, and Standards of Performance.Note: Due to the evolving nature of work, additional responsibilities and qualifications may be assigned or adjusted.
