Your work will span core lab disciplines, with a focus on hematology, biochemistry, and transfusion medicine.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform diagnostic testing: Conduct a variety of lab tests (manual and automated) Ensure accuracy & compliance: Validate results, troubleshoot discrepancies, and follow strict quality control protocols.Operate & maintain lab equipment: Calibrate instruments, perform routine maintenance, and address technical issues.Handle specimens with care: Collect, process, and store samples while maintaining integrity and safety standards.Collaborate with healthcare teams: Communicate findings, assist with urgent testing, and contribute to efficient lab operations.Support lab operations: Manage inventory, maintain records, and adhere to safety and infection control policies.QualificationsEducation: 4-year degree in Medical Laboratory Science from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program, covering hematology/coagulation, chemistry (biochemistry & immunology), transfusion medicine, microbiology, and histopathology.Certification: Eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Science BCSLS and/or CSMLS certification (Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science).Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on work in a clinical lab, with expertise in core lab areas (hematology, biochemistry, and transfusion medicine).Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, proficiency with lab information systems (LIS), and comfort with the use of Meditech and Windows-based programs.Language: Professional working proficiency in English (additional languages are an asset).BenefitsRelocation & immigration support: Employer-provided documentation for visas/work permits.Competitive compensation: Salary, health benefits, and pension plans.Professional growth: Training, mentorship, and licensing exam preparation support.Work-life balance: Stable hours in a supportive, team-based environment.
