As part of a growing Privacy Practice that is respected across Canada, youll work with clients in the public, healthcare, and private sectors. Youll collaborate with a seasoned team of professionals with backgrounds in law, policy, privacy, security, risk management and technology, and lived experience, who have your back and value your contributions.What Were Looking ForAs a Mara Privacy Consultant, youll bring a broad set of skills, knowledge and experience in privacy and related areas like risk management, information governance, access to information and policy development. You will deliver risk assessments and develop and apply frameworks, programs, or policies that provide meaningful guidance to clients as they introduce new technologies and business solutions.Youll have exceptional writing skills and the ability to communicate and apply complex privacy concepts, laws and principles clearly, in a way that adds value to our clients. As a self-starter who is detail-oriented and flexible, you will take on various types of projects based on the priorities of the firm and our clients. In all the work that you do, you will be encouraged to think creatively and resourcefully. As a complement to our existing team members, we are looking for that special person who is energetic and fun-loving, but serious about the work.Wed like to hear from you if you bring:At least 5 years of experience in a similar role applying privacy skills and knowledge to successfully complete client deliverables such as privacy impact assessments, privacy programs, and information management policiesAn undergraduate degree in a related disciplineA strong aptitude for analyzing and interpreting policy and legislationDemonstrated understanding of privacy principles and practices and their applicationExcellent analytical and writing skillsAn ability to communicate complex information effectively to a wide variety of audiencesDemonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and deal with ambiguityStrong consultative skills, including facilitation and problem solvingExemplary client service skills and ability to collaborate at all organizational levelsAssets:A masters degree in public administration or related field and/or a Law DegreePrivacy related certification (e.g. CIPP/C, CIPM)Complementary expertise or designation in risk management and/or information managementExperience applying privacy, policy or information management skills in the public sectorExperience applying privacy, policy or information management skills in the health sectorWhat We OfferA competitive salary and benefits package, company profit sharing and variable incentive program, ample paid vacation, paid professional development, work from home allowance, company events, and other perks.A premier boutique firm, Mara offers flexibility and autonomy to do your best work, without that corporate culture feel.
