Role and Objectives: The Site Superintendent is a f i eld-first, hands-on leadership role reporting to the Development Manager. This individual will help lead all on-site construction activities for major projects in Castlegar and South Slocan, BC, including: A 16,000 SF greenfield mass timber office build An industrial facility expansion using mass timber and steel Modular multifamily housing developments The Superintendent is expected to be onsite, actively engaged in daily site operations, and comfortable working with peers and direct reports to ensure safety, schedule, and quality objectives are met. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage day-to-day field operations, with a strong physical presence on-site. Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, trades, suppliers, and site workers to keep construction on track. Take a hands-on approach to resolving issues, deficiencies, and ensuring build quality. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and construction plans to guide site execution. Conduct regular safety inspections and proactively mitigate site risks. Monitor workmanship, enforce building code compliance, and uphold quality standards. Jump in with tools or direct work personally when required to keep momentum and model best practices. Implement and oversee Health & Safety procedures in accordance with company and regulatory policies. Support and mentor crew members with a focus on safe, efficient, and high-quality work. Collaborate with the Capital Projects Manager on execution of scopes such as civil work, utilities, and excavation. Maintain daily reports and communicate progress to senior leadership. Perform other related tasks as needed. Requirements: Degree or Diploma in construction management, engineering, architecture, or equivalent trade experience. Minimum five (5) years relevant industry experience Proven ability to deliver projects according to scope, budget, and timeline expectations. Project planning, risk mitigation, time management skills. Experience in construction logistic, hazard identification, and management of all Health and Safety on site, including lifting plans and temporary works. Problem solving and leadership skills Strong blueprint reading skills with the ability to interpret schematics accurately. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with team members, clients, and stakeholders. Strong problem-solving abilities to address challenges that may arise during the construction process. Ability to consider over arching project schedule and critical path, along with production of short term look ahead schedules, monitoring and reporting. Fluency with computers (IE Bluebeam, MS Office) required. Experience navigating 3D models considered an asset.
