Overview: The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will be responsible for supporting the payroll and benefits department to accurately and efficiently process employee payroll and benefits. You will assist with various payroll functions including the processing of biweekly payroll using the HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce) platform, adhering to company policies and legal requirements, and delivering outstanding support to employees for their benefit and payroll questions. Key Responsibilities: Payroll: Assist in the preparation, processing, and distribution of bi -weekly payroll for all employees. Process payroll for employees leaving the business ensuring all appropriate documentation is submitted to relevant authorities. Calculate and input salary, wages, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation correctly. Maintain accurate and organized payroll records, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive information. Review and reconcile payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies. Effectively administer payroll transactions and changes in Dayforce. Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters. Help in supporting month end and year end activities. Assist with audits, both internal and external, related to payroll processes and records. Collaborate with team members to develop and implement more efficient payroll procedures/processes. Benefits: Administer the Company Health and Dental Benefit plan for hourly and salary employees. Regularly maintain the benefits system to ensure it reflects current employment changes. Make sure new employees are promptly enrolled with the benefits provider according to the scheduled enrollment date. Confirm benefits are removed or deactivated, for anyone leaving the organization. Assist with union benefits by submitting monthly benefit reports to the union. Support the Payroll and Benefits Supervisor along with partner departments (e.g. HR) with ad hoc projects as needed. Work with external agents, e.g. Ceridian and CRA to process queries, etc. All other duties as delegated and assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education in accounting or related field and/or payroll designation (PCP or CPM) are considered an asset. Demonstrated payroll and benefits administration experience. Proficiency in payroll software and systems; experience with the implementation of payroll software (preferably Ceridian Dayforce) is beneficial. Experience participating in and/ or driving transformational change. Skilled in using spreadsheets and other relevant software applications (e.g. Microsoft Excel). Meticulous attention to detail and precision. Exceptional organizational and time management abilities. Capacity to manage confidential information with integrity and discretion. Proficient communication skills, both oral and written. Strong customer service focus with the capability to address employee inquiries and concerns professionally.
