ODonoghue Building)Duration: 12 Months (November 7, 2025 – October 7, 2026)Work Hours: Monday to Friday | 08:15 AM – 04:30 PM Alberta Time (7.25 hours/day, 36.25 hours/week)Location of Work: Digital Architect(s) will primarily work remotely but may need to attend meetings or work sessions in Alberta with reasonable notice. Travel within Alberta, including to and from Edmonton, will be at no cost to the Province. The Province may alter work arrangements with reasonable notice.Facilities: When working remotely, Digital Architect(s) must provide their own equipment (computers, software, printers, desks, chairs, etc.), while the Province ensures system access. If directed to work in-person, the Province will provide office space, furniture, and supplies, but Digital Architect(s) must still supply their own computers and software.Work Location Restriction: All work must be completed within Canada.________________________________________About the RoleThe Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Technology and Innovation is seeking more than 10 years of experienced Digital Architects to join a forward-thinking team responsible for leading digital transformation and modernization initiatives across the enterprise. This is a critical opportunity to influence technical direction and deliver high-impact digital services in the public sector.________________________________________Key Responsibilities• Lead solution architecture for complex enterprise-scale projects, with a focus on systems integration and modernization.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute architecture roadmaps that align with business goals.• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and decision-makers.• Mentor and guide agile development teams through architecture, design, and implementation processes.• Utilize cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to design scalable, resilient, and secure digital platforms.• Work across the full software development lifecycle, ensuring architectural integrity and best practices.________________________________________Must-Have QualificationsEducation:• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.Work Experience:• Minimum 5 years: Conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders and advising decision-makers.• Minimum 5 years: Leading architecture for large-scale enterprise systems and integrations.• Minimum 5 years: Mentoring teams in Agile principles and practices.• Minimum 2 years: Designing solutions using cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.• Minimum 5 years: Experience as a software architect in Agile environments.• Minimum 5 years: Software development experience across the full SDLC.• Minimum 5 years: Experience working within open-source ecosystems (e.g., Node.js/NPM).________________________________________Nice-to-Have Experience• DevSecOps implementation in enterprise environments.• Modernizing legacy systems into digital services.• Working with enterprise Master Data Management (MDM) hub architectures.• Advocating for technology adoption in the public sector.• Applying UX, service design, or human-centered design methodologies.• Leading domain modeling and database schema design.• Using data analytics tools for data-driven decision-making.• Designing APIs and reusable components as part of architecture best practices.
