Our client, a Canadian-owned and operated manufacturing leader renowned for delivering innovative solutions across diverse markets, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager of Human Resources & Labour Relations. This pivotal role will act as a trusted advisor to the Operations Leadership team, playing a critical part in fostering an environment where company values are lived, and facilitating a culture that drives exceptional employee engagement.MANDATE: Reporting to the Director, HR Corporate Services, the Manager, Human Resources (HR) and Labour Relations (LR) plays a critical role in shaping the employee experience across multiple operational sites. In this dynamic leadership position, youll guide and deliver impactful HR and LR solutions that support employee engagement and business success. You'll collaborate with key HR partnersincluding Talent Acquisition, Organizational Development, Learning, Compensation, and Corporate Servicesto support the full employee life cycle. ACCOUNTABILITIES:People LeadershipLead, coach, and develop HR Business Partners to build a high-performing, professional team that acts as trusted advisors to the business.Foster employee engagement by ensuring team members are well-supported, equipped with the right tools, and developed for both current and future roles.Employee & Labour RelationsBuild strong partnerships with business leaders, union representatives, and HR colleagues to align HR strategies with business needs.Champion a positive employee and labour relations environment that supports fairness, equity, and engagement.Provide expert guidance and daily support to operations and HR colleagues on complex labour relations matters.Lead and manage workplace investigations, grievances, and arbitrations through all stages.Act as the lead representative in collective bargaining negotiations.Collaborate with Legal Counsel to assess, prepare, and manage grievance cases for mediation and arbitration.Interpret collective agreements, corporate policies, employment legislation, arbitral jurisprudence, and case law.Partner with union reps, managers, and the HR team to implement effective dispute resolution strategies.Analyze labour relations data and trends to inform strategic decisions and produce relevant reports.Talent DevelopmentPartner with Organizational Development and Learning teams to deliver impactful training and development programs.Support business leaders in developing their teams and building succession pipelines.Assist with workforce planning to identify and address current and future talent needs.Process, Data & Resource ManagementDrive continuous improvement by developing and implementing streamlined HR and LR processes.Maintain and improve LR documentation and templates, including collective agreements, bargaining tools, and arbitration archives.Provide analytics and reporting to support negotiations, monitor LR metrics, and inform strategic planning.Create and distribute practical toolkits on recurring employment and labour issues to support consistency and efficiency across locations.What you bring to this role;You are a passionate and proactive individual with a University Degree/Designation in HR/Labour Relations, with a minimum of 8-10 years of progressive end-to-end Employee life cycle HR experience, including 3 years in a leadership capacity.Deep expertise in labour relations, including collective agreement interpretation, investigations, grievance handling, and negotiation experience.Engaged and articulate communicator with excellent delivery skills, adept at navigating high-stakes labour negotiations with clarity, confidence, and professionalism.Proven success in B2B environments such as manufacturing, supply chain, warehousing, or transportation.Strong track record of driving employee engagement and delivering effective labour relations outcomes.Solid background in conflict resolution and dispute management.Experience leading and supporting teams across multiple locations.Ability to influence and implement best practices across business units and HR functions.Strong project management capabilities; able to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-change environment.Agile, innovative, and adaptablethrives in ambiguity and change.Self-motivated and collaborative, with a strategic mindset and a hands-on approach to solving problems.Strong business acumen with the ability to align HR initiatives to organizational goals
