This role will require the candidate to work closely with members of the Canadian underwriting, actuarial, underwriting audit, claims and underwriting operations teams, and to engage with underwriters outside Canada on the bifurcation of Canadian exposure from foreign treaties in accordance with the regulations under Part XIII of the Insurance Act.As a member of the P&C Canada team, the successful individual will develop their analytical and reinsurance foundation skills, with the prospect to move into an underwriting role.About the role:Assist with the underwriting and decision-making process of P&C treaty business under the guidance and support of underwriters including the analysis and examination of cedant submission data and bordereauxWhere applicable, operate, evaluate, and improve existing underwriting analysis tools and templatesDevelop an understanding of P&C products and treaty reinsurance structuresResearch and compile marketing and client information for client visits and industry events and ensure Salesforce data is kept currentUnder direction of the underwriters, correspond with clients and brokersWhen appropriate, attend broker and client meetings with underwriters and assist them with underwriting auditsBe willing and able to travel for business purposesCollaborate with internal cross-functional teams in underwriting operations, actuarial, reinsurance technical accounting and claimsReview treaty contract wordings and, where appropriate, liaise with internal contract wording specialistsSupport underwriters in producing and monitoring risk accumulation, exposure aggregation processes, business unit reporting and planningDemonstrate a high level of competency in the inquiry, collection and analysis of data, trends, market dynamics as well as judicial and legislative news as it relates to Canadian businessComply with external and internal policies, procedures, regulations, underwriting guidelines and authoritiesHandle administrative tasks in support of the underwriting teamPrepare presentations for internal and/or external useQualificationsAbout you:Bachelor's Degree or equivalentExcellent analytical thinking and inquisitive mindset with ability to make quantitative and qualitative assessments of riskExcellent written and verbal English skills bilingual French would be an assetStrong interpersonal skills with a basic understanding and experience in reinsuranceActive interest in an underwriting role with a willingness to learn and accept new challengesHighly motivated individual who will take initiative and work independentlyStrong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and multi-taskCollaborative, reliable, and adaptable team memberAdditional InformationPartnerRe provides a working environment in which diversity is valued, where all employees feel welcome, respected, and empowered to perform at their best.
