Reporting to the President, This HANDS-ON Maintenance Manager will be responsible for performing skilled tasks in the electrical & mechanical repair and maintenance of equipment. Must be able to analyze, troubleshoot, dismantle, align, assemble and adjust both electrical & mechanical equipment and machinery to maintain it in efficient operating condition. . Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the maintenance department. Responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain equipment according to safety, preventive, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives. The Maintenance Manager is the 'Go-To' for all things maintenance, supervising 4 electricians on 2 shifts. *MUST HAVE PREVIOUS PROTEIN EXPERIENCE, LOCAL IN THE G.T.A., AND ABLE TO LEGALLY WORK IN CANADA*Desired Qualifications:High school diploma/GEDCompletion of a trade, or an equivalent number of years of education and Maintenance/Millwright experienceA diploma and/or degree in mechanical, electrical, millwright or industrial maintenance a plus.'B' ticketMinimum 5 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of machinery in the food, specifically protein industryPrimary Responsibilities:Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment, and maintain supply of parts*Must have previous experience on the following equipment: Predust, Batter, Breading, Fryers, Ovens, Spiral freezers, Ishida weight scales, Pacmac baggers.* This Manager will oversee the installation, maintenance & repair of equipment.Perform skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machinesEnsure effective management of loss prevention, risk management, security, maintenance, ventilation, heating, cooling and other daily activitiesClosely adhere to all company Health & Safety standards, according to government legislationPlan and manage replacement of major capital expense items and all maintenance costsEnsure 24/ 7 availability for emergency servicesOversee all maintenance mechanics.Contacts appropriate maintenance service shop for and/or suppliers for major repairs.Moniter part usage, manage inventory & coordinate the ordering of replacement equipment, parts & suppliesEnsure accurate completion & documentation of work orders & maintenance recordsConduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with government regulationsMaintains heating and air conditioning systems, boilers, pumps, fan units, control panels, thermostats, cooling towers, etc.Maintains and/or has working knowledge of environmental safeguards and alarm systemsMaintains fire alarms and extinguishersMonitors emergency generator, function and orders refuelingPlan and prioritize work for self and staffMonitors work quality, trains as neededRead and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and serviceDiagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustmentsPerform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and facilitiesPerform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functionsDetect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervisionComply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areasUpdate and maintain information in the company records systems and department databasesSet priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions and scheduled workAdhere to departmental procedures and systems, e.g., systems for preventative maintenance, maintenance requisitions, scheduled work and continued quality improvement/risk management programsKeep current with ongoing changes and new technology and adapt accordinglyMaintain inventory of equipment, manuals and warranties.Prepare monthly reports and budgetOther Requirements:Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writingAbility to maintain organization of maintenance schedule and files in a changing environmentStrong management, delegation, planning and leadership skillsKnowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislationStrong communication and problem-solving skills
