Together with our partners across the country, we work to ensure that Canada leads in research and innovation.The Position: Network SpecialistThe Network Specialist is accountable for contributing to the technical design, implementation of IP network infrastructure, and collaborating on supporting day-to-day operation of the network infrastructure and its services.This is a full-time, permanent position that reports to CANARIEs Director, Network Engineering.Key ResponsibilitiesOperating the CANARIE Network with a focus on responsiveness and reliabilityContributing to all facets of network architecture and services developmentImproving the network reporting mechanisms and user support systems to increase operational efficiencyDrafting and reviewing designs for technical soundness, and making key infrastructure decisionsDeveloping and maintaining documentation, including requirements, and specificationsCollaborating with network architects, software developers, and security professionalsCollaborating with partners nationally and internationally,Contributing to deployment and adoption of advanced network servicesCollaborating with the team in tracking network reliability, analyzing data and generate reportingOn a rotation basis, providing 24 x 7 on call support for the CANARIE networkTravel may occasionally be requiredOther related duties and responsibilities, as requiredThe Ideal CandidateTo excel at CANARIE, you have a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively on teams and are also an energetic self-starter with the self-motivation to work independently.
