Job Description

My client is seeking a reliable, experienced, and detail-oriented individual to join their private equestrian facility. This permanent/part-time position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, has extensive horse experience across a range of breeds and sizes, and values a clean, well-managed environment for both horses and humans. This is not a riding or training opportunity, nor is it suited to those looking to learn on the job. We require a confident, capable professional who can manage the daily care and operations independently and with a high level of responsibility. Key Responsibilities: Daily feeding and turnout Blanketing as needed Cleaning and maintaining 11 stalls and overall barn cleanliness Managing feed and hay inventory Harrowing pastures Administering basic medical care and treatments to horses Standing in for farrier and veterinary appointments Lifting and moving hay/feed (must be able to lift at least 50 lbs) Occasional afternoon feedings when the owner is unavailable When House Sitting (During Owner Travel): Additional daily feedings and turn-in Supervising property and standing in for other staff as needed Overseeing staff and contractors on-site Acting as the owners trusted representative to ensure standards and routines are upheld Preferred Qualities: A calm, attentive, and intuitive approach to animal care Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail Self-directed, organized, and dependable Comfortable working solo or as part of a small team Assets: Ability to haul a horse trailer Flexible availability Comfortable with dogs and cats Summary of Required Skills: Extensive, hands-on experience caring for horses of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments Solid understanding of equine health, nutrition, and common medical needs Ability to recognize early signs of illness or injury and respond appropriately Familiarity with safe turnout practices, blanketing, and handling in all weather conditions Comfortable working around and assisting vets and farriers Physically capable of performing manual labour, including lifting a minimum of 50 lbs Strong time management and organizational skills Ability to work independently and maintain consistent routines without supervision Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Important to Note: This is a long-term opportunity No living accommodations provided No riding, training, or horse boarding available No personal dogs allowed on site This role is not designed as a mentorship or learning position If you are an experienced, trustworthy individual who thrives in a quiet, private, and well-maintained facilityand who takes pride in high standards of carewe would love to hear from you.
