Job Description

We are currently looking for an experienced Manual Machinist for our Clients Lively Ontario operations shop. The Machinist is responsible to set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and consumables, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. The operator produces small batches or large quantities of metal parts and consumables and ensures quality products are being produced and maintain a safe, clean and productive work environment. Key Job Responsibilities Technical: Rotate to various assigned machines as required to meet production requirements. Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as conventional lathe, milling machine, drill press, radial arm drill, and the occasional use of CNC equipment. Position heavy fabricated metal components in machining fixtures utilizing overhead and jib cranes and other lifting devices per procedure. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, etc. Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers, gages, etc. Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines. Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process. Follows documented procedures standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect free operations to create and machine components. Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock in order to display placement of cuts. Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs. Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter. Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information. Complete any required documentation - manage and complete the Manufacturing Orders as per company process. Customer Service: Communicate with co-workers and internal customers as needed, including the passing of work from one shift to another. Builds sound relationships with the workshop team and internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations. General: Performs other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor. Safety and Environment Complies with safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements. Strives to find safer ways for customers to work with products. Responsibility to identify and report any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents and / or near misses. Maintains hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation. Maintains orderly workshop and ensures housekeeping requirements are met. Qualifications/Requirements College Diploma in Machining or Tool & Die or equivalent experience. Licensing as Machinist 4-8 years of experience as a Manual Machinist Knowledge of safe operation of machines and other tools within production facility. Knowledge of manual machine tools, CNC and power tools, including their designs, uses and maintenance. Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and their applications in machining. Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
