The MD offers strategic direction, leadership, and oversight, ensuring that business strategies, plans, and initiatives comply with regulations, internal policies, and procedures.AccountabilitiesLead and foster a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.Develop strategic business plans for regional growth by:Creating a clear vision and strategy aligned with the bank's overall objectives.Developing strategic proposals and business cases supporting business and bank goals.Building strategic alliances, partnerships, and stakeholder relationships, ensuring resource allocation aligns with objectives.Gaining a comprehensive understanding of market trends, competitors, offerings, and client segmentation.Execute regional business plans by:Implementing growth strategies aimed at increasing market share, revenue, performance, and profitability.Building collaborative relationships within the bank to generate profitable customer relationships.Supporting profit planning and financial monitoring.Communicating and tracking business plans with stakeholders.Manage operational, technology, risk, compliance, and expense requirements by:Creating an environment of effective and efficient operations aligned with bank values and controls.Overseeing daily activities in accordance with risk culture and appetite.Addressing regulatory, compliance, and client issues timely.Controlling expenses and managing costs.Ensuring adequate resources for operations and technology, including partnerships with IT suppliers.Monitoring regulatory trends and ensuring compliance.Build a high-performance team by fostering an inclusive environment, communicating vision/values, and managing succession and development planning.QualificationsUndergraduate degree in Business or related field; MBA preferred.Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in transaction banking services.Over 10 years managing banking products and portfolios.Deep understanding of business product portfolios and distribution networks.Strong grasp of underlying technological platforms supporting products and client experience.Proven ability to drive profit and loss for a business line.Experience in strategic planning for technology-intensive businesses.Track record of delivering results in a large, global organization, influencing decisions beyond direct authority.LocationToronto, Ontario, CanadaScotiabank is committed to an inclusive environment and offers accommodations during recruitment.
