Reporting directly to the Senior Clinical Program Director for Surgical Services, the Manager will continue grow and develop the Hospital's NRT. The NRT has been a recent and successful initiative created by the Hospital to respond to nursing staff resource requirements to support fluctuations in patient needs, replacement staffing, and bed capacity expansions. The Manager will also be responsible for providing managerial support to other clinical areas as need arises.The Manager will ensure that the care provided by the NRT staff aligns with Sinai Healths vision, mission and goals and is in accordance with relevant legislation and the standards set by the Professional Practice department, the governing regulatory bodies and clinical program requirements. The Manager will be accountable for monitoring and identifying opportunities to optimize NRT operations by utilizing human and financial resources to provide safe, efficient and excellent patient-centered care. This role will foster an environment that promotes quality, excellence, collaboration and shared leadership.About Our Nursing Resource TeamThe NRT plays a crucial role in meeting the dynamic patient needs within the hospital. As an agile team, they are dedicated to providing essential support when last-minute RN staffing needs arise, ensuring uninterrupted quality care for patients. The NRT supports various inpatient areas, including General Internal Medicine, Surgery, Psychiatry, and the Emergency Department. Registered Nurses on this team receive specialized orientation and training to effectively support medicine and surgical units.In This Role You WillHuman Resources Managemen t:Assume responsibility for all human resource planning which includes recruitment and retention strategiesRecruit, develop and manage staffEstablish open communication and provide just-in-time feedback; complete regular employee performance appraisals and support the development of learning plansWork collaboratively with the broader interprofessional team to maintain standards of nursing practice and management of patient care by creating an environment conducive to staff development and excellence in nursing practiceInterpret and foster the philosophy, goals and standards of the Department of NursingSupport effective employer/employee relationships through knowledgeable interpretation and implementation of hospital policies and procedures, management/leadership theories and practicesEnsure that all practices align to Toronto Public Health requirements, Toronto Region guidelines and Sinai Health protocols; ensures team members for assigned clinical areas have up-to-date knowledge of and training on required policies and proceduresEnsure access to care is maintained by making efficient use of resources and optimizing throughputMonitor, schedule, and utilize employees efficiently to ensure adequate shift coverage and to maximize productivity; responsible for payroll managementFinancial And Operations ManagementEnsure financial management through effective budgetary planning, monitoring, controlling and operationsFacilitate and provide leadership for resource utilization; develop business cases for required human or physical resources, as neededManage and control daily supplies, ensuring optimal inventory management required for efficient operationsLeadershipAct as the primary liaison with clinical leadership to ensure optimized access to the NRT and other clinical areas as neededDemonstrate and promote Sinai Healths mission and vision, modelling our purpose and valuesTake a lead role in creating a culture of safety, risk mitigation, quality, and serviceCommunicate effectively using appropriate lines within the organizationServe as the escalation point for any unique inquiries or requests to the assigned clinical areas; ensure the timely resolution of any issues arising, partnering with key stakeholdersParticipate as a member/leader of corporate committees and working groupsServiceFoster a collaborative practice environment that is based on mutual respect among all team members and promotes psychological safetyPromote a culture of inclusion and interprofessional teamworkFoster effective labour relations through knowledgeable interpretation and implementation of collective agreementsQuality And SafetyDevelop, lead and manage quality improvement initiatives for assigned clinical areas based on quality data monitoringEnsure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and Sinai Health policies and procedures; develop standard operating procedures and policiesMonitor service quality standards; perform quality audits and take corrective action, as requiredPromote and maintain a safe patient care and work environment by assessing for and managing actual and potential risksConvey policies and procedures to employees to familiarize them with health and safety responsibilities and safe work proceduresResponsible for the collection and reporting of accurate and timely key performance indicators (KPIs)Responsible for developing and maintaining a valid and reliable workload measurement tools for assigned clinical areasPerform other duties related to the position, as requiredJob RequirementsMandatoryCurrent certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)Graduate of a CNO-approved bachelors degree in nursing program, or equivalent combined education and experienceApplicants with proven equivalent recent and related training and experience may be considered.PreferredBachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an acute care hospital environmentSkills and KnowledgeDemonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop a high performance teamUnderstanding of principles of risk management, emergency procedures and infection prevent and control preferredExcellent interpersonal and communication skills; professional, diplomatic and confident with a proven ability to work with individuals across all levels of the organizationExcellent organizational and time management skills with the proven ability to manage competing demandsCommitment to collaborative practice;
