Tenure: Full-Time, PermanentLocation: St Hubert, Longueil, QCSalary:$110k-$130k/annuallyRole Responsibilities:Operational Excellence:Focus on continuous improvementLeverage Lean manufacturing principles and tools to eliminate waste, optimize processes, reduce costs, and drive innovationOversee and supervise all production operations (including farm and related processes), ensuring safety, coordination of materials, labor, and equipment to meet production goals, maintain flow, monitor and analyze processes and efficiency, and liaise with other departments as neededDefine performance indicatorsCoordinate with the Quality department to ensure all cultivated products undergo quality control testingLeadership and People Management:Promote ongoing performance improvement and accountabilityMentor, motivate, attract, retain, and develop a small, high-performing teamImplement recruitment solutions that meet financial targets and planned company growthMaintain active communication (upward and downward), being visible, approachable, and accessibleFoster ongoing collaboration and minimize interdepartmental silos where neededRisk Mitigation:Identify and mitigate risks to ensure business continuitySafety First:Ensure production staff have the tools, equipment, and training required, and verify that food production is conducted safely and securely in line with regulatory and SQF requirements, free from contaminationConsistently follow and enforce sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs), occupational health and safety regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)Create a culture focused on health and safetyLead efforts to ensure the highest standards of food and employee safetyDevelop a health and safety model to serve as a prototype for future farmsWork with the Quality Assurance team to ensure safe product deliveryMaintain cleaning and maintenance programs, ensuring timely execution of sanitation practicesEnsure all personnel are trained in food safety and hygiene and comply with SOPs throughout productionCommunicate any procedural changes that could affect food safety to the QA department and collaborate on planningAct as a leader by promoting a healthy, safe, and inclusive environmentProfitability Long-Term Financial Performance:Responsible for the overall operating result and operational success of the farmBuild and execute high-performing operations in alignment with sales goalsPlan, organize, and control production to ensure efficiency, timeliness, budget compliance, and quality standardsDetermine labor needs according to the operating budget and evaluate workforce planning to optimize efficiencyWork closely with the Horticulture Manager to set performance indicatorsCollaborate with other department heads on decisions related to agricultural inputs and capital expendituresManage resource allocation for project activitiesProduction and Logistics:Assign and develop team members, ensuring they have the tools and support needed to succeedCommunicate regularly with employees and functional leaders to ensure the operations team is informed and aligned with business prioritiesContinuously study and implement improvement measures to streamline processes, resources, and materialsMeasure and manage performance effectively to meet and exceed goalsProduce and present relevant performance reports and KPIs to support decision-making (e.g., downtime, resource usage, yield improvement, quality, workflow optimization)Participate in vendor negotiations to ensure product relevance and cost-effectivenessEnsure efficient logistics and supply chain processes and quality customer experienceStay informed on industry best practices and trendsQualifications and Education Requirements:University degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field8-10 years of experience leading high-growth production operations in food processing and/or manufacturing environmentsKnowledge and experience with production processes and techniques, quality systems, safety standards, compliance, and maintenanceLeadership experience in developing new facilities is a significant assetProven leadership and people management experience, with strong talent development skillsStrong expertise in performance indicator analysis and developmentExperience in launching or creating new facilities is highly desirable
