Our client is devoted to providing sulphur forming and logistics services to efficiently move vital raw materials to market. The company allows producers to export to overseas markets or the U.S. market with both solid and liquid rail loading capabilities.Job Title: HSE ManagerEmployment Type: This position is full-time/permanent (Monday to Friday, 7 am -3 pm)Location: Fort Saskatchewan, AlbertaCompensation Range: This position offers a very competitive and attractive compensation and benefits structure, including:3 weeks vacation to start, 10% annual retention bonus each year.And more Reports to: General Manager & Terminal ManagerRole Summary:The Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager is responsible for developing and executing the HSE management system and leading the companys (HST) in maintaining a safety-focused culture. The HSE Manager will ensure HST policies, procedures, documentation, culture, and communications comply with all applicable laws, codes, and industry best practices. Includes validation of the HSE management system and reporting to HSLP ownership. Also responsible for assisting in budget preparation and management for HSE-related items, including PPE, safety gear, and life safety infrastructure.HSE Manager Primary Duties & Responsibilities Specific duties and responsibilities include:Provide leadership for the HST team in health and safety. Mentor team leaders and individuals in health and safety topics, culture, expectations, and best practices. Lead by example and drive a safety-first culture in the organization consistent with the company's core values. Define the needs and objectives of company in safety and safety trainingIdentify, track, and communicate key metrics for the HST HSE system and identify areas for improvementConduct or coordinate safety training for all staff and orientations for all stakeholders.Conduct an annual comprehensive review and audit of the company's HSE management system to ensure compliance with internal policies, codes, regulations, OH&S rules, and industry best practices.Develop and implement hazard identification tools.Direct and enforce all aspects of the HSE management system. This includes the implementation of Life Safety Rules policies and procedures for safe work practices.Provide advice and guidance to employees and management on safety policies, regulations, and practices.Lead and document incident investigations. Ensure all incidents, hazard IDs, non-compliance, and related events are appropriately documented, tracked, and available for review. Maintain current and accurate SDS files for all required materials on site.Provide training, guidance, and direction for the HST Emergency Response Plan to all employees and management. This includes leading the Emergency Response Team and directing training for the team.Conduct walk-through inspections of plant facilities on a regular basisEnsure all plant operating procedures are up to date and consistent with the HSE Management program.Ensure the onsite safety library is complete and updated regularly.Ensure all staff training is up to date. Guide and direct the Training and HSE Coordinator to ensure proper training records are maintained. Be willing to respond to emergencies during off hours when necessary. Liaise with URO HSE to ensure HST is meeting or exceeding safety requirements for URO employees.Other duties as required related to HSE aspects of HST operations. To be considered for this role, the HSE Manager must have the following qualifications:6+ years of Safety and Industrial Health & Safety experience Or equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform responsibilities of the position NCSO, CRSP, or other related designations are considered preferred Knowledge of federal, provincial/ local industrial health, safety, fire prevention rules, regulations, and related strategies Knowledge and experience with COR and management system auditing Familiarity with developing safety policies & procedures Ability to coordinate and deliver safety education and training Ability to operate a computer and supporting software Ability to lead and motivate individuals and teams to achieve program and project outcomes Ability to compile and analyze data, develop metrics, and perform cost-benefit analysis Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to identify and resolve conflicts.
