Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for providing strategic, operational, and financial leadership while growing the Chambers membership and elevating its impact across Peterborough and the Kawarthas.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic & Operational LeadershipPartner with the Board of Directors to implement the Chambers strategic plan and annual goals.Lead the design and delivery of programs, services, and events aligned with the needs of local businesses.Identify and pursue opportunities to diversify revenue and ensure long-term financial sustainability.Membership Sales, Growth and EngagementDrive membership development through relationship-building, outreach, and innovative marketing strategies.Establish and meet clear membership sales, growth and retention targets.Champion the Chambers value proposition to prospective and existing members.Ensure a high level of service delivery and engagement across the member base.Governance & Board RelationsProvide regular reporting and insight to the Board to support sound governance and strategic direction.Support Board and committee recruitment, succession planning, and effective engagement.Ensure compliance with by-laws, legal obligations, and best practices in non-profit governance.Team LeadershipFoster a collaborative and high-performing organizational culture rooted in accountability, innovation, and service excellence.Support, mentor, and manage a committed team, including recruitment, performance management, and professional development.Lead by example through ethical and transparent leadership.Communications & Public ProfileRepresent the Chamber as a credible and compelling spokesperson across all levels of government, media, and community platforms.Advocate for business interests through policy influence at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels.Lead the Chambers communication strategy to amplify its mission and enhance member and public engagement.Financial & Administrative OversightManage budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, and audit processes.Ensure effective administrative systems, operational policies, and regulatory compliance.Oversee the operation of a government services office affiliated with the Chamber.QualificationsPost-secondary education in business, public administration, communications, or a related field is preferred.A minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in a business association, economic development agency, or similar member-based organization.Demonstrated experience/ knowledge of board governanceDemonstrated sales experience with a proven ability to build client relationships, meet or exceed targets, and drive revenue growth through strategic outreach and customer engagementDemonstrated ability to build, develop, lead and motivate high-performing teamsProven ability to generate revenue and grow membership or client bases. Strong financial acumen and experience managing organizational budgets. Outstanding communication, relationship-building, and advocacy skills. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate high-performing teams.
