Reporting to the QA/Regulatory Manager, the Quality Assurance Lab Technician/ Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring product specifications are met and enforcing company standards, policies, and regulations. Additionally, this position is responsible for completing all regulatory document request, maintaining an organized electronic environment, and assisting with compliance tasks related to applicable regulatory requirements within the Animal Nutrition division. Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician Duties & Responsibilities (~25%)Conduct advanced analytical testing of minerals, feed ingredients and fertilizer samples using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES).Perform pH analysis, moisture content determination using a moisture analyser, and manual titration methods, as required. Review, interpret, and evaluate analytical results, compile and issue comprehensive laboratory reports. Develop, verify, validate, and modify analytical methods to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Draft and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), log sheets and other technical documents in accordance with quality standards.Identify and document non-conformances; lead the implementation of corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs). Create and maintain control charts, monitor trends, and ensure data quality through consistent recordkeeping. Participate in proficiency testing programs to benchmark and validate laboratory performance.Perform routine analyses on QA-submitted samples, ensuring timely and accurate results. Ensure the appropriate selection, availability, and proper use of test methods and analytical equipment. Perform routine calibration, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Maintain compliance with ISO17025 standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while demonstrating the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Quality Assurance Specialist Duties & Responsibilities (75%+)Collaborate cross-functionally with regulatory,commercial, operations, and purchasing teams to comply with quality and regulatory requirements.Communicate with suppliers to obtain and maintain up to date quality and regulatory documentation in response to customer requests. Provide timely delivery of quality and regulatory documents to customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring accurate and efficient communication. Maintain and update FDA registration numbers for all the product in compliance with regulatory standards. Collect and store updated Certificates of Origin (COOs), blanket certificates, and FDA registration letters following established procedures. Accurately complete customerregulatory and document requests within required timeframes. Complete and submit supplier and customer approval questionnaires as needed.Manage new product, supplier, warehouse or other regulatory approvals, ensuring all requests are handled promptly.Monitor and respond to inquiries through the QA mailbox (Fresh Service) in accordance with established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).Collaborate with suppliers to create or update product labels and documentation for product registration and approval purposes.Lead and execute the shelf-life extension program, including generating expired products reports, hosting review meetings, coordinating with suppliers, collecting samples, and arranging testing as needed. Maintain accurate and up to date quality and regulatory electronic databases. Generate branded Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) in both English and French as assigned by the QA/Regulatory manager.Collect and prepare warehouse product samples for customers, sales teams, or testing purposes. Save supplier Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and laboratory reports in accordance with company procedures; update product testing logs as required.Collaborate with warehouse personnel by creating work orders & printing labels, as needed. Create internal and external Certificates of Analysis (COAs) based on lab results when applicable.Participate in HACCP and Safe Feed/Safe Food (SF/SF) monthly meetings; engage with suppliers to resolve customer complaints effectively.Support and help maintain quality and regulatory certification (ISO17025, Responsible Distribution, HACCP/Feed Assure, and Safe Food Safe Feed), including training, audits, and continuous improvement efforts within the Animal Nutrition Division.Promote a robust quality, regulatory, and safety culture focused on continuous improvement. QualificationsLab Technician Diploma or BSc. in science. Minimum of two years working experience in a laboratory.Experience with ICP and other instrumentation would be an asset.Good math, analytical and problem-solving skills.Good technical writing skills.Experience within the Animal Feed Industry or feed safety certificates would be an asset. A valid Drivers license is required.Work Environment Office, Production, and Warehouse environment working with feed ingredients, fertilizers, macro minerals and pet food products.Warehouse environment may be exposed to noise, dust, and seasonal temperature changesFast paced, demanding work.
