The Controller will lead the seamless operations of their accounting department and provide outstanding leadership to their team while building collaborative relationships across the organization.RESPONSIBILITIESThe Controller is responsible for full cycle accounting and dissemination of financial reporting. The Controller also coordinates the budgeting cycle, all relevant audits as required by external stakeholders, financial reporting, budgeting, and ensuring that company procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles with the following key responsibilities:Hands-on experience with IFS ERP system integration, including implementation and process optimizationAssess and implement improvements to accounting policies, systems, and processesProvide assistance to client Divisions in the budget processInterpret financial report and reporting of accounting information to the executive teamEnsure regulatory filings and remittances are processedEstablish department performance objectives and goals in conjunction with the VP FinanceCoordinate the preparation of financial statements, summaries and other cost benefit analyses and financial management reportsManage the companys cash flow including monitoring payment terms, monitoring cash collections and completing a 13-week cash flow projectionManage foreign exchange transactions within Di-Corp policyMaintain a system of accounting policies and proceduresMaintain a comprehensive system of controls over all accounting functionsMonitor the companys compliance with debt covenantsComply with all tax reporting and payment requirementsPreparing, analyzing, and presenting monthly, quarterly, and annual operating results and budgets, and performance and variance reports for both internal use and board reportingMaintain the financial forecast combined of historical & projections, including segment reporting and reporting renewal to enhance stakeholder useReview capital requests and guide the approval process, including capital project financial modelling using discounted cash flow, and other valuation techniquesWork with data to evaluate and report on company-wide free cash flow and asset attributionAnalysis of financial performance including cost accounting, margin analysis and KPI performanceProviding accounting and analytical expertise on defined projectsLiaises with outside organizations and officials (e.g. auditors) to prepare required working papersEnsure operational compliance with safety policies, procedures, and applicable lawsPromote and maintain positive Divisional relationsWork collaboratively with internal stakeholdersMaintain a safe working environment and promote health and safety awarenessSupport employee development, mentorship, and growthMeet set deadlinesFIRST YEAR MEASURES OF SUCCESSWithin the First Three Months Develop and complete financial planning and reporting for both internal management and external stakeholders.Within Six Months Independently manage the preparation of financial statements and oversee the consolidation process using IFS.Reporting Development Design and implement a functional and reliable financial reporting framework.Process Transition & Template Setup Successfully transition key financial processes to the Controller, while establishing standardized budgeting templates, defining financial KPIs, and supporting the completion of essential accounting elements.Ongoing Lead the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely quarterly financial reports.THE INDIVIDUALGiven the pivotal role this individual will be expected to play in achieving the strategic objectives of the company and in supporting the success of the organization, it is essential that the successful candidate possess the following core competencies, experience, and attributes:EducationBachelors Degree or Masters Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Chartered Professional Accountant CPA, or equivalentDemonstrated commitment to ongoing professional developmentExperience Minimum 5+ years of experience working in a complex fast-paced environment and managing teams in a finance and accounting setting.Understanding of ASPE standards and ability to apply standards to business transactions.ERP implementation familiarity is an asset.Strong experience with full cycle accounting, coordinating budgeting, and completing corporate financial consolidations.Coordinating collection of financial information from remote and autonomous business units and standardizing reporting from different financial systems for the purposes of financial performance analysis and reporting to Executive and external stakeholders.Managing key banking, product vendor, legal, currency provider relationships.Cashflow planning and cash management.Ability to identify material issues or risks and bring them to the attention of the Executive management.Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.Understanding of foreign exchange hedging is considered an asset.Competencies and KnowledgeBusiness and Financial Acumen: Understands key business fundamentals, understands the drivers of financial health and accountability of the organization, and takes responsibility to maintain its ongoing fiscal soundness.Communication: Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization.
