Henwood Treatment Centre is a 62-bed live-in treatment centre for those experiencing a substance use concern or a co-occurring substance use and mental health concern. The Client Care Assistant works with the interdisciplinary team to monitor and respond to clients needs in order to provide support, care and safety for clients 24 hours per day in accordance with centre policies and individual treatment plans. The ideal Client Care Assistant is one who is empathetic, flexible, adaptable to various challenges, performs well in stressful situations, utilizes critical thinking skills and works flexibly, both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. They provide additional support to the team by identifying and attending to building concerns, communicating information about observations to relevant team members, answering phones, photocopying, general housekeeping duties, and other duties as required. Physical requirements of the position include the ability to sit/stand and walk through a large centre as well as use stairs, there is no elevator access. It is also a requirement that the incumbent be physically able to respond to behavioral/clinical emergency situations that may occur anywhere in the building. As a Client Care Assistant, you will work as a team member with all staff assisting in the provision of supportive care to clients with addictions. Your primary duties include providing supportive care to clients, ensuring a safe and secure facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff and contributing to a therapeutic environment through interaction with clients. As part of an interprofessional team, you will contribute to the delivery of residential services to persons with an addiction promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. You will support clients to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will also work collaboratively with other health and service providers to maintain a safe and supportive environment. Completion of Grade 12. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Experience with supporting under-resourced and underserved communities. Demonstrated ability to maintain strong professional boundaries.
