St. Joseph Hospital (MSJ). St. Pauls Hospital is a 500-bed clinical academic teaching hospital in downtown Vancouver. MSJ is a PHC acute care facility in the Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood of Vancouver, with 200 beds. The New St. Pauls build is underway, with planned opening in 2027. The successful candidate will join a cohesive group of neurologists engaged in quality patient care and teaching. The candidate will provide neurologic services while on call through the emergency department and hospital consultation service. The candidate will provide ongoing care for patients seen while on-call after discharge as appropriate through their private office. The successful candidate will also provide neurologic care within the neuro diagnostic program in EMG/EEG, at least 0.5 days per week at the discretion of the Neurophysiology Lab medical director, and the rapid access clinic/stroke prevention clinic at least 0.5 days per week. They may engage in private neurology practice in the community. Role Description and Clinical Expectations Current call responsibility is divided among the Division members, in one-week rotations and ranges between 4-6 weeks per year currently. Payment is fee-for-service. There is an opportunity and expectation to teach UBC medical students and residents while on call. Engagement in quality improvement initiatives is expected. The anticipated start date of this position is July 2025. Qualifications Successful candidates will be licentiates of the Medical Council of Canada, hold a BC medical license and current certificate with the College of Physicians and Surgeons at BC, and meet credentialing requirements at PHC. Qualified applicants will be licensed or eligible for licensure within the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) and have RCPSC certification. The successful candidate will have completed additional training in neurophysiology and neuromuscular disease and/or epilepsy and will be eligible to write the Canadian neurophysiology examinations in EMG/EEG through the CSCN. The expectation will be successful completion of these examinations within 2 years. The successful candidate will have additional training/interest in an area that is complementary to the current expertise of the PHC neurology group. The candidate will have a strong interest in teaching and medical education.
