Description Burns & McDonnell Manufacturing Group is looking to expand its engineering and construction capabilities in the Canadian market. We are seeking a dynamic Business Development Leader to spearhead this initiative, establishing a strong foundation and executing a comprehensive roadmap for short-term and long-term growth in the Canadian region. The Manufacturing Canada Business Development Leader will be responsible for developing a holistic understanding of the Canadian market manufacturing industry and its associated engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) supply chain including prospective Canadian clients and local sub-contractors. Reporting to the executive leadership teams in the USA and Canada, this leader will play a critical role in positioning Burns & McDonnell Manufacturing Group for sustained success. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Roadmap Development: Collaborate with manufacturing and Canadian leadership teams to develop and execute a roadmap to launch and grow a profitable manufacturing business in Canada. Define short-term objectives, including market entry strategy, geographical focus, team building, and initial client acquisition. Establish long-term plans for market penetration, team expansion, and sustained client relationships. Localize and adapt best practices from the U.S. market to the Canadian landscape. Conduct regular executive reviews and report progress and refine strategies. Market Intelligence & Analysis: Leverage internal and external resources to identify key competitors, potential clients, and subcontractors within Canada, especially those focused on growing business in the markets served by the existing Manufacturing Business Lines. Actively participate in Canadian industry associations, networking events, trade shows, and exhibitions. Monitor current and emerging market trends to identify opportunities and risks. Develop partnerships with consultants, economic development corporations (EDCs), and real estate brokers to enhance market knowledge. Competitor & Industry Analysis: Create competitor profiles, including locations, business drivers, capabilities, and a list of market maker names. Identify areas of investment and market focus by competitors. Monitor their participation in industry events to uncover strategic trends. Client Development: Define and implement a strategy for client qualification, selection, and acquisition. Understand typical client contract structures, project execution strategies, and delivery preferences, ensuring alignment with client needs and industry best practices. Enhance Burns & McDonnells Manufacturing brand presence in Canada through targeted marketing, development of promotional materials, and statements of qualifications (SOQs). Leadership Recruitment and Team Development: Establish relationships with potential market-makers and generate interest in BMcD leadership opportunities. Collaborate with Leadership and Human Resources to develop a recruitment/offer strategy. Develop a robust talent pool to recruit a local engineering and construction team. Qualifications: Bachelor''s degree in engineering, architecture, construction or related degree from an accredited program. Minimum 13 years related professional experience in marketing, business development or sales promotion environment, experience in the A/E/C industry preferred. Proven project development and execution experience. Previous experience developing and delivering training presentations related to proposal communications, proposal strategies, business development and/or pursuit strategies. Exceptional interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to present complex information clearly and effectively to employees, management, and clients at all levels.
