This independent contractor role is ideal for a collaborative, CPHR or CHRL-designated consultant who is passionate about supporting organizations in managing complex employee relations matters. As a valued member of the Salopek team, the Workplace Investigator will deliver high-quality, impartial HR investigations for a variety of clients, contributing to our continued commitment to excellence and integrity in every engagement.Duties and Responsibilities:The Consultant will partner directly with Salopek clients to conduct thorough, objective, and respectful workplace investigations.Responsibilities include:Reviewing and becoming familiar with the organizations relevant policies, procedures, and workplace contextEnsuring a fair, impartial process and maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity throughout the investigationPreparing for and conducting interviews with complainants, respondents, and witnessesCollecting, reviewing, and analyzing evidence to determine objective findingsPreparing a comprehensive final report that outlines the investigation process, findings, and rationaleProviding clear, practical recommendations to key stakeholders based on the findingsSupporting post-investigation workplace restoration activities, such as conflict resolution, mediation, and workplace culture assessments, as neededThe Consultant may collaborate with other Salopek team members, depending on the complexity and scope of the investigation, to ensure high-quality and well-rounded support for clients.Qualifications:Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree is required; specialization in Human Resources, Business, or a related field is considered an assetCPHR or CHRL designation is required, along with formal training or coursework in workplace investigationCandidates with an advanced degree in a related field who are actively pursuing a professional HR designation will also be consideredLicensure as a Workplace Investigator is considered an assetMinimum of 12 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years leading workplace investigationsCertification or training in conflict resolution and mediation is preferredStrong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and human rights frameworksDemonstrated ability to conduct research and produce clear, objective, and well-structured reportsExcellent planning, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesStrong client service orientation, with a high level of discretion, professionalism, and integrityProven ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative and team-oriented approachMust carry or obtain active Professional Liability InsuranceWorking Conditions:Independent contractor role, engaged on on-call, as needed basisFlexible scheduleWhile most consulting work is completed remotely, occasional in-person work may be required based on client location and investigation needsConsultants must maintain a functional and confidential home office environment to conduct professional services as
