Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates and proposals for multidisciplined construction projects. This role also supports project schedules, billings, and coordination, ensuring seamless execution from planning to delivery. How Youll Add Value Deliver timely, accurate, and well-prepared estimates to support bidding and successful project awards Prepare takeoffs, quantities, tender submissions, lump sum pricing, and budget estimates, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project requirements, and attend pre-tender meetings as needed Review tender specifications, drawings, and subcontractor quotations to create comprehensive project proposals Collaborate with project managers to ensure planned project estimates are followed, while assisting with on-site inspections and material procurement as needed Assist with project schedules, progress reconciliations, billing, and invoicing to support timely and cost-effective project delivery Identify and report any major discrepancies in projected project costs or construction standards to the project team promptly to ensure timely resolution and alignment with project objectives Support field crews to ensure projects are delivered in a safe, efficient, timely, and cost-effective manner Provide ongoing communication with all key stakeholders to ensure alignment and satisfaction throughout all phases of project construction Develop and maintain trusting and positive relationships with consultants, owners, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and associates to support successful project outcomes Identify, recommend, and implement process changes that improve project and estimating efficiency, ensuring benefits are tracked and reported Communicate with the team to foster a high level of technical proficiency in estimating and project management practices Actively demonstrate a commitment to safety by participating in safety training, reviewing safety minutes, engaging senior management on safety initiatives, and ensuring safety meetings are conducted and concerns are actioned in a timely manner What You Bring 5+ years of estimating experience, preferably involving underground utilities, road building, paving, concrete flatworks, and landscaping CET or P.Eng designation preferred, but relevant education and heavy construction experience will be considered Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, construction estimating software (e.g., Hard Dollar, Bluebeam), and ERPs (e.g., Dynamics 365) Strong skills in reading and interpreting plans and specifications, with excellent mathematical and analytical abilities Initiative to learn and develop new skills to enhance your personal growth and the delivery of accurate and timely project estimates Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proven ability to build and maintain trusting, credible relationships, handling interactions constructively, addressing challenges proactively, and ensuring service and delivery standards are optimized Flexibility to work extended hours, including overtime, and travel throughout the Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo areas as required Note: Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing will be required.
