Job Description

The Radisson Blu Toronto Downtown is currently recruiting for Chief Engineer!Duties and ResponsibilitiesReporting to the General Manager, the Chief Engineer is responsible for:Ensuring that both the property and product are in a condition that exceeds our guests expectations.Identifying and rectifying general maintenance issues within the property.Responding to guest requests in a courteous, efficient, and safe manner.Performing preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to hotel guest rooms and equipment, including kitchen, boiler, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.Performing drywall repair, painting, and basic carpentry as needed.Conducting regular internal and external rounds of the property to ensure everything is in working order, reporting issues to the General Manager with recommendations and cost estimates.Maintaining work areas, equipment, and logbooks.Responding to emergency situations such as fire alarms and power failures.Performing other duties as assigned by the General Manager.In addition to the core requirements, the ideal candidate will demonstrate:The ability to embody and promote the company's culture in interactions with guests and team members.Strong leadership skills, inclusiveness, and the ability to inspire and relate to all levels.The ability to create a positive, supportive work environment where team members are empowered and motivated to do what is right.Job Requirements2-5 years of technical experience or equivalent in a recognized trade, with a general understanding of building maintenance and operations. Experience in a fast-paced hotel environment is an asset.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with working knowledge of computers.Flexibility to work any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Experience working in a unionized environment preferred.Ability to manage and work effectively within a team.Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.Willingness to respond to emergency maintenance calls outside regular hours.Knowledge of mechanical systems such as chillers, boilers, water softeners, refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical systems.Strong problem-solving, analytical, creative thinking, and decision-making skills.Attention to detail.Knowledge of pool maintenance (if applicable).Proficiency in English (reading, writing, understanding).We are an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusion, and provide accommodations upon request during the recruitment process. #J-18808-Ljbffr
