Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, financial stewardship, and operational management of both organizations. The CEO will work closely with Indigenous community leaders, all levels of government, and service providers to ensure culturally safe, trauma-informed, and community-led programs are delivered with excellence and integrity.Key Responsibilities:Provide executive leadership and operational oversight for both MVAEC and Slaxin LelumDevelop and implement strategic plans that reflect community priorities and promote long-term sustainabilityLead organizational planning, budgeting, policy development, and performance measurementBuild and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities, government agencies, funders, and partnersOversee program delivery, ensuring services are culturally based, trauma-informed, and aligned with Indigenous values and philosophiesAdvocate on behalf of the urban Indigenous community at regional, provincial, and federal levelsSupport the Board of Directors through transparent governance and communicationEnsure fiscal responsibility through financial planning, monitoring, and risk managementFoster a healthy, inclusive, and values-driven organizational cultureQualifications:Masters degree in Public Administration, Indigenous Governance, Social Sciences, Law, Finance, or a related fieldMinimum of 3 years experience in senior leadership, preferably in an Indigenous, not-for-profit, or community-based organizationDemonstrated success in strategic planning, financial oversight, and organizational developmentDeep understanding of Indigenous communities, cultures, and values, particularly in an urban contextStrong communication, negotiation, and partnership-building skillsExperience working with Boards of Directors and diverse stakeholdersSound knowledge of culturally appropriate and trauma-informed practicesPreference will be given to qualified Indigenous applicantsWorking Conditions:This position offers a hybrid work model with a mix of in-office and remote flexibility.
