The mission and vision statement for the Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation is to improve the quality of life in the core area of Brandon.As a non-profit organization, the organization strives, through advocacy, capacity building, provision of knowledge and sustainable funding from various sources to challenge and empower all community residents with a focus on the core area.ABOUT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ROLE:Reporting to Board of Directors, the Executive Director has operational responsibility for the BNRC business plan based on strategic direction provided by the Board. ED is responsible for leading the organization in alignment with the mission, vision, and strategic goals set by the Board of Directors.In addition, the Executive Director strives to achieve excellence in the planning, development, and implementation of BNRC programs and services to better serve the Brandon community with a focus on social and economic development needs.KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:Board of DirectorsDuties and Responsibilities:Report to and support a strong Board of Directors.In collaboration with the Board Chair develop board meeting agendas and attend all meetings.Prepare a monthly report on all organizational activities.Ensure annual operating budgets are prepared for Board approval.Conduct official correspondence on behalf of the Board as appropriate and jointly with the Board when appropriate.Communicate effectively with the Board and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all organizational information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions on the condition of BNRC (externally and internally).Draft policies for the approval of the Board and prepare procedures to implement the organizational policies; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes to the Board as appropriate.Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and the organizations operations.Implement policies, strategic objectives, and executive limitations set by the Board.Provide the Board with timely, accurate, and relevant information for decision-making.Support board development, including recruitment, training, and governance best practices.Ensure compliance with all bylaws, policies, and regulatory requirements.Identify, assess, and inform the Board of Directors of internal and external issues that affect the organization and provide monthly reports to the BNRC Board.Duties and Responsibilities:Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with the Boards directives.Ensure effective program development in alignment with the strategic vision.Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization.Create and model a climate of respectful positive relationships. Foster a culture of accountability, ethical leadership, and mission-driven impact.In addition to the Chair of the Board, act as a spokesperson for the organization. Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation.Promote effective communication with the media, government bodies, and the public.Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered/into and on behalf of the organization within the compliance of the Board policy.Build partnerships in new service areas, establishing relationships with the funders, and political and community leaders to help achieve the goals of the organization.Oversees implementation of policies and procedures in relation to the organizations work.Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, and rigorous program evaluation.Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures, and practices.Lead, coach, develop, and retain staff by ensuring orientation and performance management processes are implemented.Determines staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery and manages recruitment, selection, orientation, support, termination, supervision, and performance management processes for all employees.Risk Management and Financial PlanningDevelop and oversee the annual budget within financial limitations set by the Board.Approve and administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organization.Expand local revenue generating activities to support existing program operations and service expansion while simultaneously retiring building debt.Research funding sources, oversee the development of fund-raising plans and write funding proposals to increase the funds of the organization.Consistent quality of finance and administration, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve strategic goals.Ensure control and effective utilization of the physical and financial resources of the organization. Provide transparent financial reporting to the Board, including risk assessments.Identify and evaluate the risks to the organization and implement measures to control risks. Ensures all risks are reviewed annually and managed accordinglyDirect and prepare an annual comprehensive budget process with the Board and employees within the context of the operating agreements from funders for approval each fiscal year, including current year expenditures and identification of issues for the coming fiscal year.Ensure fund-raising, grant writing and fund developing other resources necessary to support organizational activities in alignment with mission vision and values of the BNRC,Maintain and foster relationships with BNRC core funding sources, prepare funding proposals and reports as timelines require.Contribute to the financial health of the agency and safeguarding its assets by developing and implementing procedures that will help protect BNRC interests on an ongoing basis.PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONSMinimum 3 years experience in a senior management role or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Post-secondary education in Business Administration or a related field.A demonstrated and successful track record of not-for-profit operational experience, including fiscal responsibility and budget preparation.Highly self-motivated, self-managed, and able to work independently and make informed decisions.An adaptable and versatile style, able to navigate between and across different internal (i.e., clients, staff, volunteers) and external (i.e., funders, community partners) cultures and personalities.A commitment to equity, and the unique needs of underserved communities.A track record as an entrepreneurial leader who has significantly contributed to the success of an organization and delivered positive, sustained performance and growth through a data-driven and impact focused approach.Demonstrated experience in Board relations and the ability to excel in an environment within complex accountability frameworks.Exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to lead with influence.Excellent leadership and management skills.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Knowledge of human resources management, financial management and project management is an asset.Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization is an asset.Strong interpersonal and communication skills,Ability to use Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive,)WORKING CONDITIONSGenerally, work is conducted in an office environment at the BNRC Office located at 440 Rosser Avenue in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada.Standard 37.5 hours work week, may require flexible working hours including evening and weekends to accommodate activities and events.An inclusive workplace with a focus on work-life balance.Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.Must hold a valid Manitoba drivers license, access to a vehicle and ability to travel within the Province of Manitoba.COMPENSATION PACKAGESalary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 annual salaryVacation - 3 weeks annual vacation after one year of service, up to 5 yearsBenefits ?
