This role offers valuable experience and the chance to positively impact participants lives. Key Responsibilities Research and plan activities for the Adult Day Program (BASE) to meet participant needs and promote engagement and skill development. Prepare weekly program schedules, coordinate off-site trips, and organize special guests. Assist with volunteer and facilitator recruitment, training, evaluations, and scheduling to maintain appropriate staff-to-participant ratios. Support staff in facilitating activities, managing behavioral challenges, and providing personal care, including occasional physical contact. Manage program inventory and recommend improvements for quality enhancement. Respond to emergencies, provide minor first aid, and coordinate medical assistance when needed. Maintain confidential records related to participants needs, behaviors, and health concerns. Act as the main contact for parents/guardians regarding participant needs and coordinate participant intake and updates. Coordinate with York Region Transportation for participant schedules and safe arrivals/dismissals. Support year-round adapted programming, including summer camps, and provide behavior management support during holidays. Qualifications College or university student or graduate in Social Work, Behavior Science, Recreation/Therapeutic Recreation, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 3 years experience working with individuals with special needs. Ongoing education to stay current with trends, legislation, and policies in recreation and inclusion. Progressive supervisory experience in a related field. Excellent customer service, communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with sensitivity to diverse populations. Proven experience in adaptive programming and accommodations. Behavior management skills and problem-solving abilities. Teamwork skills and ability to meet deadlines in a multi-task environment. Strong computer skills, including MS Office and internet proficiency. Valid Ontario G drivers license and access to a vehicle (mileage compensated). Certifications: High Five, Safe Management/Non-Violent Crisis Prevention, Standard First Aid with CPR (must be obtained prior to start). Police Vulnerable Sector Check required. Flexible availability for evening and weekend programs and meetings. Note: Certifications are not required at application but must be obtained before employment.
