Our RBI programs include:RBI Spring (April to June) an inclusive baseball/softball program implemented in partnership with schools to remove any barriers that students may face getting into the game. This 10-week program runs afterschool for students in grades 4-8 to participate in weekly practices and organized games.RBI Summer Edition (July to August) an initiative that offers daily programming in July and August for over 2500 youth attending Toronto District School Board (TDSB) Elementary Summer School.If interested, candidates are encouraged to apply for positions within both programs. Based on performance, successful RBI Spring staff will have the opportunity and be encouraged to continue working for RBI Summer Edition.RBI SPRING BASEBALL FOR DEVELOPMENT COACHRBI Spring is looking for Baseball For Development Coaches to lead program implementation in schools across Toronto.REPORTS TO: Program Specialist, RBI SpringCONTRACT DURATION: March 15 June 11, 20256 or 12 hours per week, 2 or 4 weekday afternoons per weekShifts are 3 hours each on Monday/Wednesday and/or Tuesday/Thursday afternoons between the range of 2:00 6:00PM.Mandatory Training & Event Days: Saturday, March 15 Coach TrainingSunday, March 16 Coach TrainingTuesday, March 18 Coach TrainingFriday, April 25 Coach TrainingMonday, June 8 Coach TrainingTuesday, June 9 Final Tournament Day 1Wednesday, June 10 Final Tournament Day 2Thursday, June 11 Final Tournament Day 3WORK LOCATION: Schools across Toronto (North York and Scarborough areas), coaches are responsible for their own travel arrangements.COMPENSATION: $20/hourAPPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday, January 31, 2025. Applications will be processed and reviewed as they are received and interviews will be offered on a rolling basis.RBI Spring Baseball For Development Coaches will:Attend all training, practices, games and final tournamentsPrepare weekly practice plans and game lineups that focus on promoting belonging and connection, are trauma sensitive and use variations to keep all students includedEnsure that the field and/or practice space is physically and emotionally safeLead dynamic baseball/softball activities that are wildly fun and engagingGo above and beyond to support schools to remove barriers to participation for their studentsAct as the liaison between Jays Care and the school in a highly professional mannerA great candidate will have:Experience working with children and youth who face significant barriers to accessing sport and recreation opportunitiesExperience playing and/or coaching baseball/softball or other sportsHigh level of energy and a commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for all participantsPositive attitude and the ability to motivate and keep children engagedAbility to travel reliably to your assigned schoolCurrent Standard First Aid certification, or willing to obtain certification prior to the start of work contract*Please note that all successful applicants must be 18 years old by the start of the contract date.To protect our people, brand and assets, a pre-employment background check will be conducted.
