Based in Ottawa, reporting to the Head of Government Relations and External Affairs, you will develop strategies to engage with federal officials and agencies, advocate for Interac's interests, and build effective relationships.Key ResponsibilitiesGovernment Engagement:Develop and implement strategies to build and maintain relationships with federal stakeholders, including MPs, departmental officials, and regulatory bodies.Prepare briefing materials, reports, and presentations for meetings with government representatives, supporting executive engagement.Enhance Interacs visibility with federal audiences through targeted strategies.Legislative and Regulatory Affairs:Provide briefings on federal activities, policy updates, and current events to senior management.Monitor and analyze policies, legislation, and regulations affecting Interac; support response development with cross-functional teams.External and Industry Relations:Build relationships with industry associations and advocacy groups to advance strategic objectives.Promote Interac through key events, engagement, thought leadership, and meetings.Public Affairs:Develop strategies to influence and inform government and stakeholders, including messaging and content creation.Support business development aligned with public sector goals.Assist in reputation and issue management, providing counsel on risks and protecting corporate image.What You BringMinimum 8 years of experience in government, public affairs, or related fields.Experience working with federal officials, departments, and agencies.Familiarity with financial and payments sector policies (preferred).Strong knowledge of the federal political system and legislative processes in Canada.Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks.Eligibility to work full-time in Canada for Interac.Interac conducts background checks, including criminal record, safety verification, ID cross-check, employment and education verification, and possibly credit and social media checks.Our Culture and BenefitsWe value connection, excellence, and innovation.
