The successful candidate will work in a progressive multi-professional team, participate in rounds, meetings and quality initiatives and assist with coverage across other clinical service areas as necessary. The candidate will perform all other duties as required. This position will focus on the Non Head and Neck Cancer population.Recognize and act within the scope of practice of a speech-language pathologistFlexibility and ability to prioritize and to deal with changes in tasks with short noticeAbility to function in an independent, self-directed manner and to exercise sound judgementAbility to function in a stressful environment while maintaining professional demeanorHave an understanding of health care teams and how the skills and competencies of all members contribute toward patient managementQualificationsMasters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent, requiredRegistration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO), requiredOntario Association of Speech-Language Pathologist and Audiologists (OSLA) membership, preferred2 years experience in an acute care setting, preferredExperience in the assessment and treatment of patients with spinal cord and / or neurological injuries, preferredExperience in professional education, presentation and in-services, preferredExcellent interpersonal skillsExcellent verbal and written communications skillsExcellent organizational and time management skillsExcellent problem solving skillsCommitment to self-directed/life long learning and evidence based practiceCompliance with legislation outlined in Regulation of Health Professions Act (1991)Compliance with departmental and hospital safety, emergency and infection control proceduresComputer literacy, preferredExperience in development, implementation and monitoring of quality indicators, preferredAdditional InformationWhy join UHN?In addition to working alongside some of the most talented and inspiring healthcare professionals in the world, UHN offers a wide range of benefits, programs and perks.
