Our objectives are to protect customers by offering robust life and health insurance solutions and to ensure we are the leading digital insurer in Canada.Role Description: Reporting to the local AVP Product, Underwriting and Governance and Control, the Senior Manager Underwriter will be responsible for applying sound underwriting judgment in evaluating facultative risks. The successful candidate will ensure timely turnaround of cases that meet client service standards and deliver the highest quality of service.Key Responsibilities:Conduct risk assessment and classification in accordance with TD Insurance Life and Health philosophy and standards.Provide sound underwriting judgment on all facultative cases, within approval limits, while holding signing authority up to $10 million.Manage all aspects of the underwriting process.Provide leadership and feedback on Team performance, developing training and career development plans.Communicate with clients and collaborate with head office colleagues.Maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners.Serve as Teams liaison with other departmental units.Comply with consumer laws and regulations regarding risk classification, confidentiality, and disclosure.Identify and propose solutions to problems related to underwriting.Promote an atmosphere of trust with clients.Required Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Pharmacy/Medicine preferred.Minimum 10 years underwriting experience; AALU, FALU preferred.Approval limit of at least $5 million in life insurance and $250 thousand in Critical Illness.Strong industry knowledge with analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to adapt to the changing environment of Underwriting.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset.We are excited that you are considering a career at TD.
