Director, Human Resources, Nairn Centre, Ontario When you join our team as a Director of Human Resources, you will be the strategic business partner to the Vice Presidents of our Eastern Operations, including our Vice President, Woodlands & Chief Forester. You will be responsible for providing HR leadership and support to HR staff across the Eastern region in Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick, which includes 11 sawmills and 2 woodlands. This position partners with operational leadership to deliver strategic HR activities, administer labour and employee relations, and implement HR programs and initiatives. The role can be based out of our Nairn Centre or Timmins location. What Youll Do Key Accountabilities: Business Partner: Collaborate with operational leadership to align HR strategies with business results. Labour Relations: Manage negotiations and administration of collective agreements in Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick. Corporate Interface: Communicate and coordinate HR requirements with operations and the corporate HR group. Leadership: Contribute to setting HR priorities and strategies for the region. HR Service Delivery: Ensure effective use of HR service delivery models to support business needs. Talent & Succession: Develop strategies to build leadership pipelines. Compliance: Ensure adherence to provincial, federal, and internal requirements. Partner with operations and corporate stakeholders to foster a high-performance culture centered on safety and operational excellence. Build and maintain trustworthy relationships with business leaders to align operational and HR goals. Assess training needs related to HR initiatives, including recruiting, coaching, Learning & Development, and diversity. Liaise with other HR leaders to ensure consistent program delivery. Create tools for frontline leaders to manage labour and employee relations issues. Collect, analyze, and report on HR metrics. Lead employee and labour relations efforts, including negotiations and resolving workplace issues. Oversee investigations and advise management on workplace issues. Manage labour negotiations, grievances, arbitrations, and legal collaborations. Coordinate with safety leaders on labour and employment issues. Oversee leave management and return-to-work processes. What You Offer Bachelors degree in Business, Management, or Human Resources. 10-15 years of HR experience related to the role. Experience working with dispersed teams and effective HR policies across locations. Strong organizational and project management skills. Experience in manufacturing, preferably in lumber or M&A integration. CPHR, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred. Proficiency in MS Office; experience with HR systems like ADP and HRIS. Knowledge of Canadian labour laws (province-specific experience preferred). Ability to work in a matrix organization and handle front-line and strategic issues. Effective communication skills and problem-solving abilities. Ability to analyze HR data and provide recommendations. Strong planning and organizational skills, with ability to meet deadlines. Willingness to travel within the region and to corporate offices in Canada and the US.
