OverviewThe Speech Language Pathologist is responsible and accountable to the Manager, Interprofessional Practice for the provision of quality care, assessment, treatment, education and counselling to patients with swallowing and communication impairments as established by the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and the standards of speech language pathology care of the hospital. You will work as an active member of a multidisciplinary team. This role primarily supports patients in General Internal Medicine and Complex Continuing Care but there may be coverage requirements in ICU, cardio-respiratory, cardiology, surgery, and paediatrics. Participation in clinical education and staff onboarding are a requirement of this position.EducationMasters' Degree in Speech Language Pathology.Registered and in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).QualificationsMinimum of 2 years experience in acute care hospital based SLP care delivery required.Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in cardio-respiratory, geriatrics, surgery, ICU, cardiology, acute general medicine and stroke.Experience with video fluorographic swallow studies is required.Experience with tracheostomized individuals an asset.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to function as an effective interdisciplinary team member.Willingness to participate/lead health service councils and task groups.Motivated to practice in accordance with the mission and vision of hospital/health service.Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and personal development.Evening and weekend shifts may be necessary on rotation.Good work and attendance record required.All employees of Michael Garron Hospital (MGH), a division of Toronto East Health Network (TEHN) (formerly Toronto East General Hospital (TEGH)) agree to work within the legislated practices of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario.All employees of MGH are responsible to contribute to a transparent culture of patient and staff safety by adhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures set by MGH.All employees are accountable for protecting the psychological health and safety of themselves and their co-workers through adherence to MGH's policies and practices. #J-18808-Ljbffr
