The role also involves training staff, optimizing processes, and collaborating with other departments to meet business goals.RESPONSIBILITIES:Leadership and Strategy: Develop and implement underwriting workflows and strategies to achieve profitability and growth objectives. Collaborate with senior leadership to align underwriting operations with the companys strategic goals. Coach and develop Underwriting Assistants, providing technical guidance on broker service and underwriting workflows.Underwriting Operations: Oversee the underwriting process to ensure adherence to company guidelines and regulatory requirements including internal audit. Ensure accurate premium calculations, timely policy issuance, and resolution of billing issues in coordination with finance and operations.Innovation and Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance underwriting processes through technology, analytics, and training. Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes to maintain a competitive edge. Drive process improvements and support innovation initiatives to enhance underwriting efficiency, accuracy, and service quality.Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the Underwriting Manager on workflows, efficiencies and overall development to drive organic growth. Communicate effectively with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure alignment on underwriting decisions. Provide regular reporting and updates to executive leadership on underwriting performance and regulatory mattersREQUIREMENTS:Minimum of 5-7 years of underwriting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.Strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk management, and insurance regulations.Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlinesExcellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to inspire and lead teams.Experience with underwriting technology and data analytics tools is a plus.CIP and or CRM Designation or working towards is an assetIn-depth technical knowledge and experience working in property, casualty and specialty lines.Dealership / Garage lines and programs experience is an asset.Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.Navacord is actively committed to support diversity, equity, and inclusion.
