Therefore, the work location will change when this relocation is complete (estimated to be early 2027).STATUS: 01 Full Time - SalariedDESCRIPTION:The Director, Human Resources provides strategic and operational leadership to FortisAlbertas Human Resources (HR) team, working in close collaboration with other members of senior management to support the Company in continuing to deliver electricity to Albertans safely, reliably and affordably.Reporting directly to a member of FortisAlbertas executive team, this seasoned professional will bring a comprehensive understanding of key HR disciplines, including enterprise-wide workforce planning; labour and employee relations (with experience in collective bargaining, grievance management, union relations, and arbitration); organizational design and structure; HRIS; and total rewards. They will also demonstrate a strong track record of leading diverse teams to consistently deliver excellent outcomes.The ideal candidate builds trust through credibility and strong relationship-building, and has the influence and insight needed to align HR strategy with organizational performance. This professional will also support the continued evolution of HR at FortisAlberta, building on existing strengths, modernize approaches and developing new strategies to support, structure, and strengthen the Companys workforce in alignment with FortisAlbertas Strategic Workforce Plan.With a focus on alignment, connection, and a long-term vision, this candidate will ensure HR practices reflect the evolving needs of the business and support FortisAlbertas culture of collaboration and inclusion.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDEEnvision and direct the development and execution of integrated HR strategies to reflect business priorities and support cultural alignment.Influence and advise on workforce planning, organizational structure, labour relations, and employee experience.Strengthen HRs role as a strategic partner by aligning people programs with measurable business outcomes.Ensure continuity between regional HR activity and enterprise-wide people strategies by integrating operational insights into broader planning and decision-making.Uplift enterprise-wide talent acquisition strategies, including external hiring, redeployment, and internal mobility, in alignment with operational needs and collective agreement provisions.Elevate people-first values in alignment with overall employee relations, wellness, and performanceemphasizing early engagement, responsiveness, and consistency.Implement and continuously develop the organizations labour relations strategy, including collective bargaining / interpretation, collaboration with the United Utility WorkersAssociation (UUWA), negotiations, grievance resolution, and workplace restoration.Collaborate with Compensation and Benefits leadership to ensure offerings remain competitive, equitable, and aligned with market and organizational goals.Leverage workforce data and market insights to shape HR priorities and support informed decision-making.Advance HR operational excellence through process improvement, technology modernization, and systems optimization where necessary.Promote equity, inclusion, and fairness through implementation of policies and practices that foster belonging and trust.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Demonstrated success leading HR strategy in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, with the ability to align people practices with operational and organizational priorities.Proven experience operating in a unionized environment, with the ability to navigate collective agreements, support positive union relationships, and facilitate an effective labour relations strategy.Strong working knowledge of organizational design, workforce planning / governance, talent acquisition, and internal mobility, with an ability to lead these areas at both strategic and operational levels.Approachable and known for building trust across organizations.
