As independent, community-focused units, Local Housing Organizations (LHOs) operate within the framework of the Inuit Societal Values and strive to provide most of the day-to-day services associated with program delivery to individuals and families. The 25 LHOs partner with the Nunavut Housing Corporation, to deliver housing programs and manage assets. The Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) is an agency of the Government of Nunavut with a mandate to create, co-ordinate, and administer housing programs to provide fair access to a range of affordable housing options to families and individuals in Nunavut. NHC has recently launched The Nunavut 3000 Strategy, (www.igluliuqatigiingniq.ca) which is a collaboration between the government and its partners to deliver 3,000 new units across the housing continuum by 2030. Our Local Housing Organizations are seeking a Maintenance Managers/Foremen to manage its daily maintenance operations. These positions will be based on a 40-hour work week with occasional overtime, as necessary. About the Position Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the Planning and administering maintenance program for social housing programs across the Local Housing Organizations. The key responsibilities of this position includes the following: Providing supervisory direction and expertise to maintenance staff and maintenance supervisor. Planning and administering the execution of minor O&M funded projects and monitor client capital projects. Identifying preventative maintenance requirements in consultation with the Housing Manager and staff and establishing annual plans to complete those requirements. Conducting semi-annual inspections of buildings and works to review the standard of maintenance being provided, adherence to the plan, identifying problem areas and revising the plan as needed. Ordering ample stock of materials to follow the maintenance program by constantly reviewing inventory and preparing major material orders to meet annual re-supply dates. Reviewing maintenance standards with Nunavut Housing Corporation and recommending changes where necessary. Administering and applying the collective agreement with respect to bargaining unit Assessing training needs and recommending courses for the tradesmen and apprentices to enhance the overall skill level of the LHO within accepted financial restraints; and Using experience and judgment to plan, spend, monitor and report on the maintenance O&M budget in a format outlined by his supervisor. About You Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements Includes the Following: Previous supervisory/management experience at least 5 years proven experience supervising a crew of at least 5 workers Previous administrative experience using Excel, processing invoices, developing scopes, making lists of materials, estimating jobs. Previous project management experience, along with basic knowledge of tendering, procurement, etc. Journeyman Certification with a minimum of 5 years experience at the journeyman level in an acceptable residential building trade such as oil burner mechanic, carpentry or maintenance plumbing. Valid Class 5 drivers license Compensation Package Annual Salary ranging from $107,392.50 121,684.00 based on skills, experience and the community in which the position is based. A Northern Allowance of $16,008 to $43,588 per year, depending on the community. Enrollment in the NEBS Pension Plan and Insurance. 3 weeks of paid vacation to start plus 2 weeks paid leave in lieu of overtime. Subsidized Housing is available. Relocation Assistance also provided.
