You will work in our Ottawa office five days a week.In this role, you will carry out research to convert lignocellulosic materials into renewable fuels, with the goal of increasing the cost efficiency of our processes. You will be responsible for executing bench scale experiments, data analysis and presentation of the results.You will provide routine analytical laboratory support for research, manufacturing or customer support projects or operations.Job ResponsibilitiesConduct, analyze, and troubleshoot laboratory experiments, primarily working with lignocellulosic materialsPerform routine and non-routine quantitative analyses using a variety of analytical instruments and laboratory assaysCritically analyze data and report results to the research teamMaintain laboratory equipment and suppliesFollow work plans as assigned by supervisor and execute laboratory experiments or assaysAnalyze data and provide preliminary interpretation of results to supervisor, with suggestions for next step. Present results to the supervisor or within the unit operation. Results are reviewed by the supervisor before final releaseExercise technical judgment for defined or standard laboratory procedures and practices in order to set up well defined experimentsResponsible for maintenance of some specified laboratory equipment. Shares general lab cleaning duties with others. Maintains laboratory reagents and inventoryProvides general laboratory support to others. This may include the preparation of reagentsUnderstand, follow and comply with health & safety hazards in the workplace. Immediately report all incidents and hazards. Take reasonable steps to protect your and your co-workers health and safetyQualificationsB.Sc. in Biochemistry or diploma in Biochemical Technology with relevant experience in a biochemistry roleStrong problem-solving skills and aptitude for critical analysisLaboratory experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining analytical and spectroscopic equipment such as HPLC, UV-Vis, FTIR and EADemonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to adapt to rapidly changing corporate focuses and industry dynamics, being flexible and efficient in the fast-paced industry environmentExperience with anaerobic digestion an assetMechanical aptitude is requiredSalaryLow to mid-60sBenefitsComprehensive benefit planGroup RRSP matching programLife insuranceEAP (employee assistance plan)Free on-site parkingTo ApplyIf this opportunity relates to your qualifications and experience, please consider applying.
