OVERVIEWResponsible for decontaminating, reprocessing and sterilization of equipment, supplies and surgical instrumentation. Cleaning of labour rooms and maintaining stock of supplies.EDUCATIONGrade 12 or equivalent.Current BLS.QUALIFICATIONSRecent experience in a sterile processing area recommended.Recent experience working in the Operating Room and/or Obstetrical Units recommended.Demonstrated ability in cleaning of patient equipment and areas.Ability to lift 10 kg, transport patients, specimens, & supplies as required.Ability to work comfortably around labouring patients and newborns.Decontamination, preparation and sterilization of trays, basin sets, etc.Demonstrated ability to adhere to the principles of asepsis technique.Demonstrated ability to problem solve effectively.Good decision-making skills.Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.Ability to work independently and within a team environment.Must be prepared to work in all areas of Maternal/Newborn & Child Health Services (skills & abilities considered).Good work and attendance record required.All employees of Michael Garron Hospital (MGH), a division of Toronto East Health Network (TEHN) (formerly Toronto East General Hospital (TEGH)) agree to work within the legislated practices of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario.
