While building the team, you will need to roll your sleeves up to support short term needs (i.e. cross the bridge while building it).Fix the financial foundation: Restructure accounting processes, establish accurate P&L and balance sheet reporting, implement proper inventory tracking and COGS reconciliationManage cash and capital: Model cash flow scenarios, negotiate funding (VC, debt, merchant capital), optimize ad spend vs. inventory investment trade-offsStrategic finance: Build subscriber LTV models, analyze unit economics, forecast growth scenarios while maintaining sufficient cash runwayOperational finance: Manage substantial monthly fixed costs, optimize supplier contracts, oversee day-to-day accounting operationsCross-functional partnership: Work with operations on retail scaling, marketing on ad spend optimization, executive team on growth vs. profitability decisionsRequirements5+ years finance experience with high-growth, cash-constrained companiesExperience restructuring financial reporting and building robust financial systemsComfortable with subscription/recurring revenue models and unit economicsCan build financial models under uncertainty and communicate trade-offs clearlyCPA/CMA preferred but not required if you have the right experienceBased in CanadaPersonality FitYou need to be dependable (deliver on commitments consistently), results-oriented (focus on metrics that drive value), move with urgency (fast-growth environment requires quick decisions), work autonomously (you'll be building systems independently), conscientious (precision matters in financial restructuring), organized (manage multiple complex workstreams), and communicate clearly (translate complex financial concepts for stakeholders).Compensation: Competitive salary + equity.
