Job Description

Position OverviewThe Capital Procurement Specialist will play a key role in developing and executing sourcing strategies to support the clients capital projects. This position will work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure efficient, compliant, and value-driven procurement of goods and services across various project phases.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop proactive procurement strategies aligned with current and future capital project needs. Provide expert advisory services while ensuring compliance with the clients policies and procedures.Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to build practical sourcing strategies that align with capital demand forecasts, scope requirements, supplier market dynamics, and business risks.Execute procurement sourcing activities with a strong adherence to procurement best practices and company policy.Create and implement tailored procurement and contract execution strategies aligned with project stage gate processes.Lead the sourcing process for goods and services, including RFx development, scope review, evaluation criteria, and commercial frameworks.Drive bid evaluations, lead and support supplier negotiations, and manage contract execution through to closeout.Draft contract exhibits and support negotiation of terms and conditions.Collaborate with Category Management, internal procurement teams, and business units to ensure strategic alignment and procurement efficiency.Manage contract administration tasks, including contractor onboarding, change management, and claims resolution.Prepare detailed documentation including contract strategies, award recommendations, and executive summaries.Promote the clients commitment to diversity and inclusion, particularly in supporting Indigenous engagement and participation.Provide peer leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members across all potash site locations.Qualifications and ExperienceHigh-energy, proactive mindset with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.Strong legal and commercial contract negotiation skills.Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.Robust business acumen and commercial awareness.Strong analytical and technical problem-solving capabilities.Proven experience leading cross-functional teams or stakeholder engagements.Hands-on experience with enterprise asset management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and spend management tools (e.g., Ariba).Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and an ability to quickly learn new digital tools.Experience in competitive sourcing, contract execution, supplier negotiations, spend analytics, and risk management is a strong asset.Familiarity with contract administration processes, including invoice review, interpretation, and claims handling, is beneficial.
