Your future starts here.PURPOSE OF POSITION:The Supervisor provides the planning, scheduling and assignment of resources to specific jobs within the shop and yard, ensuring that all freight car repairs and inspections are performed in a safe and efficient manner. The ideal candidate builds a safety focused culture, communicates effectively, and drives accountability.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:Lead a unionized team in maintenance, inspections, testing and repairs on freight cars, mobile equipment and vehicles used in plant, yard and road serviceEnsure freight car repairs are in compliance with Association of American Railroad, Transport Canada standards and CPKC policiesWork with internal and external partners to improve fluidity and achieve Local Service Operating Plan and Operating Plan compliance every dayProvide leadership accountability for inputs and outputs of safety, service, productivity, and financial metricsLead safety compliance within the terminal, providing corrective actions as needed to uphold standards, engage in safety discussions to promote a culture of safetyConduct briefings to ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and communicated to the next Supervisor on shiftMentor and coach mechanical employees through active observation and provide feedbackPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma or general equivalencyValid driver's license2 years previous supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment is preferredAvailable to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditionsAbility to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issuesExcellent focus, attention to detail and ability to multitaskRead and understand safety instructions, operating rules and regulations and other written or printed material in EnglishProficient in MS Office Outlook, Word, and ExcelWHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER:Flexible and competitive benefits packageCompetitive company pension and/or retirement plansEmployee Share Purchase PlanPerformance Incentive PlanAnnual Fitness SubsidyPart-time Studies ProgramPRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:Medical and Drug TestingThis is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required.
