If you value teamwork and empowerment in your career, and are eager to champion innovative and sustainable solutions to our clients, this opportunity just may be for you!As Structural Lead Engineer You Will BePerform CSA design development in several project phases e.g. conceptual design, front-end design, detail engineering and design for integration of new facilities in revamp type projects as well for small grass-root type of multi-disciplinary projects.Leading in structural, civil and geotechnical design within the projects and writing of contractors scope of works.Supervision, planning, organization of the work :Lead /coordinate a Civil Structural design teamPrepare schedules, man-hour estimates, manpower forecasts.Communicate and align with clients, vendors and other disciplines.Supervise and act as mentor for a junior level designer of junior level engineer.Promote and support value improvements, initiatives and continuous performance improvement.Participate in design reviews within the project team.Works independently, controls / leads small teams including work sharing with foreign offices.Assure quality of work assigned; assure technical integrity of design documents.Proactive reporting project status and constraints.Prepare and check man-hour estimates and material estimates, and monthly budget reports for all engineering efforts.Perform technical bid evaluations of received bids of suppliers.Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including manpower forecastsEstablish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecastsDevelop and review specifications, including design criteriaParticipate in activities associated with structural procurement packages, permitting, and subcontractingPerform and check calculations, and solve problems of complex to difficult engineering complexityParticipate in people development through mentoring, development of training material, conducting training seminars, and performance appraisal input and counselingAnalyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelinesIndicate strong technical interests and background with structural engineeringCapable to undertake structural engineering work related to resource project development and constructionOther duties as assignedNotice To CandidatesBackground checks are carried out as part of any conditional offer made, including (but not limited to & role dependent) education, professional registration, employment, references, passport verifications and Global Watchlist screening.To Be Considered CandidatesMust be authorized to work in the country where the position is located.Basic Job RequirementsBachelors degree or Masters degree in Civil Engineering.Sixteen (16) years of experience as a Professional Structural Engineer working with Canadian and American design codes to complete designs of steel and/or concrete structures in the industrial sector.Minimum of 10 years experience in mining and metal projectsMinimum 5 years of experience as Lead Engineer in a mining and Metal projectCompetent and proven record in technical leadership roles.Discipline project execution related skills and experienceExperience working in revamp projects is an asset.Experience in interdisciplinary coordinationAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.Driven to independently complete assigned tasks in a time-effective mannerPreferred QualificationsProfessional registration with Engineers and Geoscientists, BCAdvanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materialsPast record as Structural Lead engineer of a large Mining/Metals ProjectsRelevant practical field experienceIntermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programCompressed work schedule: The Fluor Vancouver offices work a compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off.Relocation: This position is not eligible for company sponsored relocation assistanceFluor Canada rewards hard work, knowledge and commitment.
